William R. Smith, Jr.
Carlisle
William R. "Bill" Smith, Jr., 80, passed away on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at the West Shore Hospital in Mechanicsburg.
He was born on August 16, 1935 in Dover to the late William R. Smith, Sr. and Wilma A. Martin Smith.
Bill retired from Valk Manufacturing after 37 years of service. He enjoyed country and blue grass music.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Joan J. Junkins of Carlisle; two sons, Steven E. and Troy L. Junkins, both of Carlisle; two brothers, Glenn R. (and wife Sarah) Smith of Seven Valleys and Thomas E. (and wife Susan) Smith of Dover; four sisters, Gladys L. Harlacker of York, Nancy M. Wentz of Lewisberry, Janet A. Gross of Manchester and Barbara A. (and husband Clyde) Landis of Dover; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Barry L. Junkins; a brother, Donald L. Smith; and two sisters, Judy L. and Phyllis M. Smith.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Hoffman Funeral Home & Crematory, 2020 W. Trindle Road, Carlisle, with Chaplain Alan R. Echard officiating. Interment will be at Letort Cemetery. There will be a viewing at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the services on Saturday.
