Robert Sims

June 10, 1936 - April 16, 2023

It is with profound sadness that I announce the passing of my special partner of 57 years,Bob Sims. He had a fairly long battle with congestive heart failure and it was time to give up the battle.

I know Bob had a good life during the past 57 years and he really enjoyed his 10 year Navy duty as a Hospital Corpsman. Bob had a good sense of humor and a big heart; and he made good friends easily. After the Navy, he entered computer operations in the Silicon Valley section of the Bay Area. He became manager of computer operations at a large micro-chip company, AMI. After a few years, he was missing hospital work and had an opportunity to return as Manager of Environmental Services at El Camino Hospital in Mountain View, CA; a large, wonderful community hospital. We moved to Yuma during the late 80's to be health care advocates for my parents in their declining years. Bob retired from YRMC in 2000.

We had a wonderful retirement, spending half of each year at Lake Chapala, Mexico (June - December) and the other half in Yuma; as snowbirds.

Bob's survivors include a sister, Miriam Bissanti of Austin, Texas and a sister, Dawn Murphy of Connecticut. Also a very special nephew, Joe Sims of California that lived with us for a few years. Bob had several other nephews and nieces in New England. We have a few remaining friends in Yuma and lots of close friends in the Bay Area and Mexico.

A private Celebration of Bob's Life will be held.
