Patrick Matheney Obituary
COLUMBUS: Patrick "Pat" L. Matheney, 67, of Columbus, died at 1:45p.m. on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at James Cancer Center with his loving wife by his side.
He was born July 24, 1948 in Zanesville, a son of the late Harry J. "Pat" and Juanita Shumate Matheney. He was a graduate of Zanesville High School and earned his Associate Degree in Theology. Pat retired from Armco Steel/AK Steel after 33 years of service. After retirement Pat began ministering. He ministered at Perryton Church of Christ, Westhill Church of Christ, Reno Christian Church, Zephyr Christian Church and Eden Church of Christ. Pat was involved in many speaking engagements and revivals. In his spare time, Pat enjoyed golfing, bowling and spending time with his family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife of 48 years, Kathleen Stotts Matheney, of the home; two daughters, Amy Jo (Stan) Bowman of Hopewell and Laura Ann (Michael) Kane of Hilllard; eight grandchildren, Matthew (Valerie) Bowman, Nicholas Bowman, Kayla Bowman, Emily Bowman, Kenneth Kane, Jackson Kane, Jonathon Kane and Patrick Kane; a great grandson, Parker Bowman; two sisters, Joy (Bob) Harrier of South Zanesville and Donna (Jimmy) McCumber of Houston, TX; a cousin, Jeane (Bill) Spangler of Zanesville; his puppy, Izzy; several nieces and nephews and many close friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Melinda Raye Matheney and a sister, Diane Orr.
Friends and family may call from 12:00 -2:30 P.M. and 3:30 - 6:00 P.M. on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 at North Terrace Church of Christ, 1420 Brandywine Blvd, Zanesville, OH 43701 where the funeral will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, November 18, 2015 with Mr. William Meaige officiating. Patrick will be laid to rest at Washington Township Baptist Cemetery, Zanesville.
