Robert Lighthizer Obituary

Robert Glenwood Lighthizer

ZANESVILLE: Robert Glenwood Lighthizer, 81 of Zanesville, passed away on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at his home. He was born in Cambridge on September 6, 1931, a son of the late Okley Lighthizer and Volena M. (Bell) Lighthizer.

Mr. Lighthizer was a life long farmer who enjoyed fishing, deer hunting and collecting arrowheads from the farm. He was chosen as farmer of the year in 1962 by the Muskingum County JayCee's. His favorite quote was "the best crop I raised was my three daughters." Robert served his country from 1952-1954 in the U.S.Army during the Korean War. He was a member of the Zanesville Christian & Missionary Alliance Church.

Surviving are: his wife, J. Elaine (Taylor) Lighthizer, whom he married on October 10, 1954; three daughters, Jill (Michael) Grubb, Susan (Keith) Scott and Amy (Jim) Still-Pepper all of Zanesville; a sister, Shirley (Bill) Little of Rio Rancho, N.M; two brothers, Harold (Jean) Lighthizer of Zanesville and Melvin (Marlene) Lighthizer of Bonita Springs, FL; six grandchildren, Andrea (Jeff) Patridge, Kyle (Emmy) Grubb, Zachary Grubb, Sean Grubb, Dylan Still-Pepper and Taylor Still-Pepper; and two great grandchildren, Peyton Patridge and Wyatt Patridge.

He was preceded in death by: his parents and his identical twin brother, Charles Okley Lighthizer.

Robert followed Jesus through life and now walks with Jesus through eternity.

Visitation will be on Monday, February 18, 2013 at Zanesville Christian & Missionary Alliance Church from 10am to 12pm with the service at 12 pm. Pastors Andy Winters and John Silvey will officiate the service with burial following in St. Paul Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Christian & Missionary Alliance Church / Mazateco Fund / 545 Richey Road / Zanesville, Ohio 43701.

Mock-Miller Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
