William K. "Bill" Howard

ZANESVILLE: William K. Howard, 83 of Zanesville, died peacefully at 9:25 PM Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at his residence, surrounded by his family following a brief illness. He was born Wednesday, October 15, 1930 in Alma, IL the son Argie Glen Howard and Hazel B. (Caldwell) Howard. He married Betty Jane (Hubbard) Howard on Saturday, April 13, 1957 and was a dedicated and faithful member of Faith United Methodist Church.

Bill served his country as a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during the Korean Conflict. Bill retired in 1985 from Halliburton Services following 30 years of service. After being retired for 15 years, he became a greeter and welcomed many guests to the Longaberger Homestead. Bill was avid fisherman and enjoyed making his own fishing lures which he enjoyed sharing with his friends. Above all, Bill was a people person never meeting a stranger. He was a loving and caring husband, father and grandfather who loved to spend time with his family.

In addition to his wife of the home, Bill is survived by 4 children: Rick (Becky) Howard of Bolingbrook, IL, Cindy (Ed) Walsh of Zanesville, Eric Howard of Zanesville and Warren (Tammy) Howard of Zanesville; seven grandchildren: Nick Howard, Beth Walsh, Jordon Howard, Tori Howard, Lucas Howard and Matt Howard; three siblings: Pauline (Bud) Hanson and Darla (Gene) German both of Oblong, IL and Gray Howard of Jacksonville, FL.

In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by one grandchild: Brian Walsh and one brother: Paul Howard.

Friends may call today Friday, April 11, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, at The Hillis, Combs & Nestor Funeral Home, 935 Forest Avenue, Zanesville and one hour prior to funeral services from 11:00 AM till Noon on Saturday at the church. Funeral Services will be held 12 Noon Saturday at Faith United Methodist Church with Rev. Nancy Amos officiating. Burial will follow in Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorial Contributions may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 1616 Blue Avenue, Zanesville or Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care, 713 Forest Avenue, Zanesville in Bill's memory. Dear Mrs. Howard and family,

I was so saddened to hear of Mr. Howard's passing last night. I can't begin to express the depth of my sorrow to you all.I always enjoyed hearing my Dad and brothers talk about their fishing adventures with Bill. He was always such a sweet and sincere man.
