George D. Brackett, Jr.
Stockwell
George D. Brackett, Jr., 85, of Stockwell, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2009, at Community Memorial Hospital in Hamilton. He was born August 5, 1924, in Methuen, MA, the son of the late George D. and Rose Gauvin Brackett, and was educated in Methuen schools. Mr. Brackett was a Corporal with the US Army during WW II, serving in the Military Police. In 1947, in Methuen, MA, he married Marjorie A. Milliken. The Bracketts have resided in Stockwell since 1953. For 35 years, Mr. Brackett was a Technical Writer with General Electric in Utica, retiring in 1986. Concurrently, he also served as a Police Officer for the Village of Waterville and, at one time, served as the department's Chief. Mr. Brackett was later employed by the Town of Sangerfield as the town's Zoning Officer. George was an avid hunter and fisherman and was also a Ham Radio and CB enthusiast. He was a member of the Kettle Beaver Hunting Club in Salisbury Center and the National Parkinson's Disease Center. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Marjorie; seven children, Patricia A. and Robert Saddlemire of Waterville, George D. Brackett, III, of Old Orchard Beach, ME, John L. Brackett and his fiance, Maureen Aceto, of Orlando, FL, James A. Brackett and his fiance, Connie Coleman, of Waterville, Donna Marie and Philip Snow of Waterville, Steven R. Brackett of Irvine, CA, and Christopher R. Brackett and his fiance, Lili, of Waterville; a brother, William Brackett of Methuen, MA; eleven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the convenience of the family at the Kloster-Northrop & Bentz Funeral Home, Waterville, with Rev. Vincent J. Kelly officiating. There are no calling hours.
