It was an honor to be friends with E.J. Mansmann. We will treasure our memories of him. He had honor and class. Tony enjoyed his conversations with E.J. on the many occasions they were together, and he learned a lot from E.J., who was never short on showing respect. To the Mansmann Family

As a staff member of a student exchange organization and later the CEO of another non-profit international educational exchange group as well as member of the Board of Directors of what was then COSERV (now NCIV), I had the great good fortune to know and work with Ernie from around 1961 until his retirement. He was one of the people in that "era" of the State Dept who fostered and genuinely believed in a cooperative and collaborative relationship between government and the private sector. He helped many groups and organziations to do more than they thought they could and he encouraged us to bring the best of the American spirit to our visitors from other countries. Huge numbers of people from around the world who never heard of him and whose names he did not know were the beneficiaries of his wisdom and grace. Please know that he will be missed by those of us who had the opportunity to know and work with him.
