Joan became a dear friend the moment I met her in her first days at Microsoft. Every meeting and conversation we had was filled with joy. Even when she shared the news of her illness, she wouldn't allow tears or sadness. She spoke so lovingly of her family and was so thrilled with her grandchildren! Joan was a special friend and inspiration--I will always remember her with a smile on my face. My thoughts are with all of you.
