The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to William Fredrick (Bill) Ellis our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Bill. And to Bill it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during WW-II while serving in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Bill we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,452 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Bill’s family and loved ones.

Dear Evelyn: What a truly outstanding man who will be missed by all that knew him. He was one of our favorite people. We still miss you both on the dance floor.

Evelyn, It has been so many years since we have seen one another. I still remember the day back in 1975 when I came over from Liberty and spent the day with you.
I have lived in Carthage for 13 years and love it here where my sons and grandsons are.
I have understanding sympathy for you as I lost Pat 10 years ago when he was only 66.
My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Vernette
