God is a God of all Comfort and he will Comfort the family's...
Stephen Teng
September 12, 2019
I only know him from watching Breakfast Club. He portrayed as a mean principal who make sure that students do the right thing. When I looked up the actors after watching the film for first time, I didnt realise that hes already deceased. There are a lot of people I never knew lived in this world, and I dont get to know about them until their deaths. Gleason will always be part of the family.

To the Gleason Family:
I met Paul on several occasions, you may have heard him mention my Dad's name, Bob Carnes. They played football together along with Burt (Buddy) Reynolds at Florida State University. He used to visit my Dad in Tallahassee, Florida and stayed with my parents on several occasions both at their house in Tallahasse and at The Cabin. I will let my Dad know that this website exists as we are very familiar with it ourselves. We lost my brother, Ted Carnes, November 12, 2005, in a car accident. My Dad was already mourning the loss of my brother when he found out about Paul's death. We were all very sad to hear that this world lost yet another amazing, kind, down-to-earth soul. May you find peace and comfort in knowing that Paul made this world a better place. With love,
Meghan Gleason

I want to start out by letting you know I am sorry to the family who lost Mr.Gleason. I was a BREAKFAST CLUB nut and the movie it self reminded me of the good ol day in detension but I would of gone nuts if I had Mr. Gleason as a Saturday detension teacher just because he was really strict but cool as he wouldn't put up with nothing.

To the family of Paul Gleason:
My deepest sympathy and condolences on the passing of your loved one. I met Paul in 1962, along with his friend, Mickey McDermott at a baseball training camp in Florida. We formed a trio each morning by having breakfast together, then attending practice, before heading out for the evening.
Paul was a fantastic person with a gift of gab, insight in world affairs and a desire to succeed.
He was a good friend during that time and I recall, from time to time with affection that period of my life with him. I am truly saddened by his passing.

To Paul's wife Susan and his two daughters,
Paul meant many things to many different people. My brother, Mark Miggins, tells a great story about meeting Paul in 1981 when he played minor league baseball for the Houston Astros. Paul was in Tucson Arizona, preparing for his movie about D.B. Cooper. Paul was at batting practice for the Tucson Toros team and my brother Mark arrived at the field for practice. He sees Paul and screams: "David Thornton from All My Children, what are you doing here". After conversing they each discovered that they had grown up in Miami. It turns out that they had mutual friends, Ed and Chris Lynch. Paul also knew Keith Hernandez from the Mets, and Ed Lynch played ball for the Mets in the 1980's. Mark and Paul became friends and Mark tells a story about Paul wanting the murals off the old Miami Stadium. Paul told Mark that he was a batboy as a youngster and those murals on the wall held a special place in his heart. Mark found out years later that Paul had approached the management at the stadium, and he eventually got the mural. Mark and I have very fond memories of all his fabulous movies. We were both saddened at his unexpected death. No doubt he is now entertaining everyone in Heaven. He was a profound and gifted gentleman that will never be forgotten. With Love, Jodi and Mark Miggins, Miami, Florida

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

In the early Nineties I worked on 4th Story with Paul. It was in LA off of SM blvd. by FOX in an old apt. building.. at night, late. Mark Harmon was there and Mimi Rogers was there getting a massage by her private massage therapist, long before chair massages were the norm anywhere. I thought it was wierd. I would rather hang out with Mark and "Paul" than get a massage. It was an Indie film before we knew what indies were. They use to call them B movies. We were just glad to get a paying job as an actor. Paul was already great. I loved spending the evening on the set with him. One actor talking to another about the craft. Laughing and thinking nobody will remember this film or rent it for that matter, but we will always remember each other and the art of filmmaking.

I would like to send most sincere thoughts to your family in your time of grieving.
My Dad also died from this two tears ago and I am still left with an emptiness....I miss him so much.. there is nothing worse then seeing a man go from full of spirit to a man fighting so hard against this disease. My family and I have doen a fundraiser each year to raise money fpr a cure for this reason..we WANT a cure for a man who left us so shortly in life and I am so sure you feel the same. It kills me that my children go to visit their "PAPA" at a stone and not in person. I think of him daily and when I saw the obit of Paul Gleason I was so sorry..not only as a teenager wactching his movies but as a person thinking of your dad, husband uncle,grandpa....fighting for breathe...I am so sorry for your your loss..but know that I am fighting for a cure also.
If ever anyone needs any person to speak to me about your loss or fight for this, please feel fee to email me.

Wow...as a teen in the 80s, The Breakfast Club was first and foremost a huge influence on how I viewed my own pressures and problems. In fact, when my own school adopted the "Saturday School" policy, I am proud to say I was one of the first to be given that particular punishment! Were it not for this film, I would NOT be proud of that! LOL!
Like many others who signed this guest book, I too know nearly every word of dialogue from the film. It actually should have been mentioned in the notice, as The Breakfast Club is the reason why many in my age group (mid-30s) continue to recognize Paul and go on to watch ANYTHING with him in it. What a comic genius! Paul Gleason's attitude in the film, not to mention his body language, will always be one of comedy's great performances!
He was so young and we will all miss him. I know that I have always harbored a secret desire for a follow-up to The Breakfast Club. Without Paul, it will not be the same. His family should be extremely proud of the fact that he spent his time here making us laugh.

Paul’s fans will truly miss him and film has lost a wonderful friend and actor. His work in film and television will be enjoyed for decades to come and we are grateful for having the privilege of “knowing” him through his work. I believe his greatest legacy however, is the obvious gift of love he gave his family. I was so moved by Shannon's expression of gratitude for her father’s love for his family. It is clear that they are an extraordinary, loving family that will continue to honor him through their love. We will hold his family in our hearts and pray that this time of sorrow is softened by the gift of their father's love knowing that love transcends all bounds.
