To the Mentell Family,
What a tragic accident to happen to someone so young. I’m glad Justin was able to work at something he truly loved. Most people never get to live their dreams and Justin did just that. We never think about how fleeting our lifespan is, just 70 years, 80 if by some special circumstance. ~Psalms 90:10
What comforts me in times of stress is my belief in the words recorded at Acts 24:15, “and I have hope toward God, which hope these [men] themselves also entertain, that there is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.” Please, take care of each other during this sad time, and pray for Gods blessings as I will pray for you.

For Justin...
WEEP NOT FOR ME
Do not weep for me when I no longer dwell among the wonders of the earth; for my larger self is free, and my soul rejoices on the other side of pain...on the other side of darkness.
Do not weep for me, for I am a ray of sunshine that touches your skin, a tropical breeze upon your face, the hush of joy within your heart and the innocence of babes in mothers arms.
I am the hope in a darkened night. And, in your hour of need, I will be there to comfort you. I will share your tears, your joys, your fears, your disappointments and your triumphs.
Do not weep for me, for I am cradled
in the arms of God. I walk with the angels, and hear the music beyond the stars.
Do not weep for me, for I am within you;
I am peace, love, I am a soft wind that caresses the flowers. I am the calm that follows a raging storm. I am an autumns leaf that floats among the garden of God, and I am pure white snow that softly falls upon your hand.
Do not weep for me, for I shall never die, as long as you remember me...
with a smile and a sigh.

Tragedies of various types have happened to many. This confirms the truth of God’s Word that “Time and unforeseen occurrence befall all.” (Ecclesiastes 9:11)
It is indeed comforting to know that in God’s righteous new world, there will be genuine love for one’s fellow humans and respect for the precious gift of life. (Proverbs 2:21-22)

I believe Justin would wish this for all of us.
"...Not to mourn for the past, not to worry about the future, or not to anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly."
Ancient Egyptians believed that upon death
they would be asked two questions
and their answers would determine
whether they could continue their journey in the afterlife.
The first question was, "Did you bring joy?"
The second was, "Did you find joy?"
The answers for Justin are quite obvious.
I am glad for the times our paths crossed.
I am grateful for his example.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Dear Alicia and family,
I am just heartbroken at the news about Justin. I know that Justin has always been the joy of your life and I always felt like I knew him through you. I know how proud you are of your beautiful son. We (all of your parks and recreation friends) have known what a wonderful and loving mother you are and how much happiness that Justin brought to your life. He was a wonderful actor and it was great to see him on Boston Legal. Please draw on your faith in God and his promise that you WILL be with Justin again.

To the Mentell family: please accept my condolences for your tragic loss. As a parent I can't imagine the pain you are feeling at the death of your son. Reading through the entries in this Guest Book, certainly gives a sense of what a fine young man he was, which I'm sure makes you very proud. He will certainly be missed by many. When you get the time, please read the scripture at Psalms 34:18, it tells us that there is a God who is near to those crushed at heart, and (2Corinthians 1: 3, 4)that He is there to comfort us in times of need. Sincerely

After having lost a son of my own 2 years ago, I would like to offer my sympathies to Justin's mother. No one knows how a mother feels when she loses a child unless they themselves have been there. Let me tell you that you will NEVER get over it, only get thru it. Have faith in God and live daily knowing that one day you will see him again!
Blessed are they that mourn, for they shall be comforted. Matt. 5:4

Alicia,
You and the rest of your family have my most heartfelt sympathy at this time. Justin was a wonderful young man, a great actor, skater and I know the source of much pride for you. Try to remember all the great times you had together. You were a wonderful mother and role model for him. Time heals all wounds and your friends are here for you. I not only speak for myself but for all your parks and recreation friends across the country who know and love you. Many in Austin want you to know that prayers are being said daily for you and Justin. I hope to see you soon. God Bless You and Keep You in his gentle embrace as you face the coming days.
You are in God's embrace Justin.

It is unnatural for a Parent to bury a child, the pain is deep. There are no words that can be said to make it better or bring him back. Yet, knowing and hearing what your son has done on this earth in such a short time, that some could never do in a lifetime. For him to have brightened someones life, or even just to bring a smile to someone. That will be the true legacy of your son. thank you for sharing him with the world, and know we are all honored to have known him in one way or another.
Thank you.

I am so sad this day to learn that my dear friend, Justin has crossed over into the next life. We both attended the same Psychology class in Grayslake, Illinois and even then, you were always such a professional and a gentleman. I was quite sad & shocked to learn of Justin's passing. I think that Director P.R.J's words best sum up Justin's legacy. He certainly displayed
some great qualities, and his candle was brightly lit indeed--that his Mom,
Alecia, knows the comfort of God at this time is my hope.
Justin and I shared time on the set of "Roll Bounce", as well as in another film, and he had a uniqueness, that I thought pared him to the likes of a Marlon Brando, or a James Dean. He humbly chuckled at that suggestion. I really appreciated both his fun and serious sides--we shared in some real interesting conversations, and his Mom obviously invested a great deal in raising him--And that was evident! For all his talent, he "really" kept his feet on the ground.
You'll be greatly missed Justin.....Thanks for the laughs and
"real", thoughtful conversations!
