Norman Hand Obituary
Colleton County Coroner Richard Harvey said the 37-year-old Hand collapsed at his home in Walterboro, S.C., about 11 a.m. Friday and died about 90 minutes later at a local hospital.
The cause of death has not been determined. The coroner said an autopsy is planned Saturday. He said Hand's family was with him when he died.
Hand's 10-year NFL career included playing stints with the Dolphins, Saints, Chargers, Seahawks and Giants. Hand, who had 22½ career sacks, was drafted in the fifth round by the Dolphins in 1995 after playing at Mississippi.

Norman was an amazing guy he used to live upstairs from me in San Diego he used to give me and my friends tickets to chargers game, and when i was in school if i was selling any candy, magazines, or fund raiser things he always bought them. I played catch with him once he wasn't lying to me when he says he doesn't throw the ball, but it was just cool he even played at all with me, and lived right there above me, in Gramercy apartments. Norman came to the Tulalip Poker Room to relax from football while playing in Seattle, he was fun to be around, became family while here. We will miss him. God bless his family.
