Albertine Lainez
June 30, 2015
Albertine Lainez was one of 9 children born to Angelo Lainez and Florence Sylve Lainez. At the time of her death she was mourned by her sisters, Verna Turner and Teresa Brown. She was preceeded in death by sisters Viola Delahoussaye and Virginia Lainez; brothers Albert, Leo, Angelo and Joseph Lainez. Albertine worked many years as an OB/GYN office nurse in New Orleans and served several generations of African American families. Albertine was never blessed with children of her own, but she acted as a second mother to her 18 nieces and nephews and extended family. She was a devoted member of All Saints Catholic Church. Albertine died of natural causes during the chaos that followed Hurricane Katrina. She is sorely missed by her sisters, a host of nieces, nephews and her faith family.
