Aunt Shirley, one of the most loving, caring and wonderful women I have ever had the opportunity to know. From a very early age, I recall my days spent with her at home; playing, reading, dancing... she considered me the daughter she never had and I was truly blessed to have her in my life as a second mother.
Mardi Gras on St. Charles was like her own personal party. She loved the people, the excitement and of course the beads. In later years, she never missed the Chalmette parades and always had a house full of people. She was always in her element at those times. My children also grew close to her and spent many days and nights at her home with almost daily trips to feed the ducks.
I can't believe she is really gone. But I know she is watching from above and I feel her spirit around me. I will always love you Aunt Shirley and thank you for touching my life and so many others'.
