…because time and unexpected events overtake them all. For man does not know his time. Just as fish are caught in an evil net and birds are caught in a trap, so the sons of men are ensnared in a time of disaster, when it suddenly overtakes them (Eccl. 9:11,12). Our families and yours must continue to rely on God in these tragic times. We continue to pray for the lost of you and yours.

To the the family of Joan Blackwell - May God give you peace and comfort through his word and the Lord Jesus Christ during this time of sorrow, I know that Joan will be missed by many.

To the Blackwell family: May the comfort from family and friends continue to strengthen you, and may you find comfort in the words found in the Holy Scriptures: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."

I first knew Joan when I was a Welcome Wagon Hostess in 1975 and we were in NOEBA together. She was such a lady and over the years we enjoyed
chatting about our travels, especially.
Don, I know you from G's Hair Designers. She was so in love with you and it was evident in everything she said and did. I think of you two often and wonder how you are doing. I'm so sorry you had to go through this. You both remain
in our hearts and thoughts.

Mr. Blackwell,
You have my deepest sympathy for your wife, Joan. She was a dedicated professional and seemed to have loved her job as a real estate agent, as well as cherished her marriage to you. She spoke fondly of you often. You and Joan were a perfect match. I've known Joan for years, and in the year 2000 she sold my house for me. Again, she is going to be missed.
Sincerely,
Cindy McKendall

Mr. Blackwell,
I'm sorry for your loss. I remembered how much Ms. Blackwell loved her home and her life in New Orleans East. I hope your memories of her sustain you through such a horrible experience.
With Sincere Regrets,

In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

When I read about Joan today, my heart broke in a million pieces. When I first started selling real estate, I join Prudential's N.O. East branch in the early 90's. Joan was one (if not the top) agent in the office. She was so nice, warm and very helpful, a TRUE professional. She was someone I trully admired. She will be missed and my prayers go to Don and their entire family.

My heart is broken. Joan was NOT my realtor, she was my mentor. In the seventies when New Orleans was very negative on racial issues, Joan encouraged me to become one of the first African American female agents in the Crowder Office with Stan Weber Inc. and smoothed over client issues to make my inclusion a positive one. I will NEVER forget her poise, her elegance and her grace. Dear Don, may Joan rest in peace and may you with the wonderful memories of your relationship, have a good life.
Sincerely,
Paulette

It is with sorrow that I see a fine friend suffer and die. She is indeed in heaven. Joan was family to me. She sold my brothers and sister there new homes, as well as mine. She never missed a gift to us every holiday. She attended my 50th birthday party at Southern Oaks and we met at church weekly. My father too died without food or water. I feel your pain. God Bless you all. You are in our prayers. Earl and Assunta Jackson

My deep condolences to Joan's family. Joan sold me my first home and was most gracious about it. Even though it was not a million dollar home, she treated me as if it were. She will be missed. May God bless you.
