We have lost a Rhode Island treasure. My deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Ben Mondor. I was very thankful to have my students from Medway High School interview Ben in 2009. I am very thankful that he so generously shared his time with my students. Ben was all about families being able to afford coming to his ballpark. He was the greatest business role model you could ever hold up to young people. Thank you so much for a life well lived Ben. Sincerely, Alfred Petrarca

Ben,
My first memory of Pawtucket was my third game as an umpire in the International League. I had never seen such a dedicated staff, nor had I ever seen such a dedicated community and fans as I did there. I had the honor, and I truly mean the honor, of being the crew chief for the 2004 AAA All-Star Game at McCoy Stadium. What you brought to Pawtucket those three days in July was the absolute pinnacle of my career. No one will ever match that game and that atmosphere and there really is no point in trying. The hitting contest with the Red Sox greats, the WaterFire downtown in the mist of a cool July evening, the afternoon luncheon with Doerr, Pesky, and DiMaggio talking about their passion for the game, the walk off home run on the last strike of the game...Mr. Mondor, I don't know if I ever properly thanked you for that once in a lifetime experience, but I know how proud you were, and I have the ring that you personally handed to me to always remember it by.
No place ever felt like the true meaning of baseball like Pawtucket did, and I will always be truly grateful to have worked in your city.
God bless you, and all the fans whose lives you touched all those years.

Thank you for resurrecting McCoy Stadium and filling it with baseball fans, particularly those of the Pawtucket Red Sox and their major league mentors.
The family atmosphere was prevalent at the stadium and fostered the love of the game. May God welcome you to his "Field of Dreams" in eternity.

I wish Ben's family peace and love at this turning point in their lives. For at every turning point in my husbands, my childrens, and my life Ben offered peace love and of course that never ending smile. I have missed Ben since we left the Pawsox's organiztion. I have always carried him in my heart. May the love that he spread across time and distance come back ten fold to comfort you now. I will see you again some day Ben. But this time we will watch the game together.
Love,
