Dolores Wilson Obituary
Wilson made her debut at the Metropolitan Opera in 1954 in the title role of "Lucia di Lammermoor," the first of what would be 26 appearances, including seven with its touring company, said Met spokesman Sam Neuman.
Her roles included Rosina in "Il Barbiere di Siviglia," Susanna in "Le Nozze di Figaro" and Zerlina in "Don Giovanni." Her last performance at the Met was in a 1959 revival of "Lucia."
Her Broadway debut came in 1965, when she starred in the musical "The Yearling." She also appeared in "Fiddler on the Roof" and "Annie."
Wilson was born in Philadelphia. Most recently she lived at the Lillian Booth Actors Fund Home in Englewood, N.J.
Home administrator Jordan Strohl says Wilson died there Sept. 28. Strohl doesn't know the cause of her death.
The New York Times first reported her death.

Dolores Wilson was my mother's cousin. Dolores and her mother encouraged my dreams. While I was still in high school her mother died. Dolores honored her mother's wish to pay my airfare across the country to attend college far from Philadelphia. Thank you to Dolores and Aunt Betty who showed me and taught me by example and their own money that there is a better life outside Philadelphia.

I am sorry to hear this, condolences to her family, My mother named me after her for two reasons, I was born in 1959 and my mother and her cousin Irene Ryan (Beverly Hillbillies granny) were great fans of hers and named me Freda Dolores Pettit after her, May she be singing her songs in heaven .
