To all of the individuals, families and communities who have been so harshly affected by the floods back in January, I hope and pray that you all draw strength from each other, be united in your struggles and continue to move forward. You are all heroes, and the greatest survivors...... Tomorrow is another day, and and I hope that each new day will bring you some peace and joy, even in the smallest of ways. Stay strong. I have been in Grantham for four months now volunteering, and you are all inspirational. I have grown close to so many and will always treasure the friendships I have made... Take care of yourselves and each other. Love from Bronwyn Taylor (From the bushfire affected area) in Victoria...

Its been so hard to watch what has happened during the floods, and all recent events of mother nature without sheding a tear, now as we rebuild and come together as a community we shed tears of as different kind, to know that we are not alone and have the support of so many queenslanders willing to get in and help it makes you so proud and inspired, well done to all for trying our best to help eachother through the hard times and may all or angels from the flood continue to watch over us and remind us that in their sad passing a new community was born.

My heartfelt thoughts are with all in this tragedy. I liked how it was said that they lost all their possessions but not their spirt. When tragedy strikes we realize the only thing of real value is our realationship with Almighty God. Matthew 6:19,20 store up treasures in heaven not on earth.

Queensland. Australia Stands With You. A poem.
People of Queensland
we all reach out to you
your grief is by our side
The spirit that we see from you
and tears we shed inside
our hearts are yours forever
respect for Queensland pride
Nature punishes without control
it ravages and it kills
but human spirit, never conquered
even though we think it will
The animals of Queensland, too
suffered in the waters wake
nowhere for them to run and hide
a drowning there to take
So rise people of Queensland
we know how much you cried
rebuild your part of Australia
knowing we are by your side
As the sun rises tomorrow
and blue skies come alive
remember all that happened
that nature can surprise
You will build your lives again
and learn that love survives
your homes will grow around you
Queensland again will thrive.

As I sit here reading condolences for the treasures (beautiful souls) that have been lost in the floods I literally feel physical pain. My heart feels like it is about to explode and I would give anything to bring them all back, but not I or anyone else can. I just want to express my deepest sympathy to each and every person on this earth that feels this pain. MAY GOD BLESS EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU and for those who did not survive MAY GOD EMBRACE YOU IN HIS LOVING ARMS AND GUIDE YOU TO ETERNAL LIFE. My family and I are in the process of moving back up to QLD and as soon as I am there I will be honoured to provide a helping hand in any way that I can. LOVE TO YOU ALL FROM THE IVANOV FAMILY - MELBOURNE

A Flood of Tears
“Dedicated to everyone who has been affected by the 2011 Floods”
As the rains fell down, we felt relief free from guilt or any doubt
The cooling fall to fill our dams and save us from the drought
All things in moderation as they say won’t do you harm
A blessing we took for granted within us all raised no alarm
But then like always where there’s been to much of a good thing
Slowly but all to surely an alarm bell starts to ring
The rains that came to quench our thirst seemed never to abate
Each day the forecast told us, take your umbrella with you mate
And life became a nuisance with more rain than was our share
The dams filled up too quickly with more water than we could bear
And towns began to flood with levees bursting at the seams
And soon stood raging rivers where before were gentle streams
These floods reached out and touched us, a fateful rolling of the dice
Our lives awash in a flood of tears, good people paid the price
Half the towns still flooded and the rest still soaking wet
It’s like the heavens threaten, we’re not finished with you yet
The rains just kept on falling, I expected Noah any day
But Toowoomba had no Wooden Ark when the flash flood came their way
No time to run and get away no time for folks to flee
Not many places keep you safe from an inland Tsunami
The waters moved so quickly tossing cars like they were toys
Turning homes to matchsticks nothing left but all the noise
Some huddled on their roof tops or they cling on to a tree
It breaks my heart to know that some just had no chance to flee
And once again as was before good people paid the price
Their lives awash in a flood of tears, a fateful rolling of the dice
The floods flowed from the ranges to the open plains below
At least a little warning now just pack some things and go
So many people lost the lot, a lifetimes worth of things
And other have lost so much more so many tears it brings
And the floods move ever onwards simply water on its course
Unaware of its destruction caused by means of brutal force
And onwards to the Wivenhoe already past its means to cope
A nightmare comes to realize that we’ve lost our final hope
Nothing more can save us now, from facing this despair
We need to meet it head on, muster courage and prepare
The deluge hits as promised devastation all around
Others left untouched now harbor guilt at fortunes found
But once again as fate would bring that rolling of the dice,
That some were left unscathed and others had to pay the price
The waters now subsiding leaves destruction in its path
So much mud and debris strewn across this aftermath
It seems though, from this terror and this nightmare of surreal
Has blossomed a new brotherhood a resolve that’s forged in steel
An army that has risen from the streets of near and far
Of strangers set to volunteer like the diggers that they are
Your homes and shops, their trenches, just a muddy battlefield
A hand stretched out in friendship, with a spirit that won’t yield
But as sunlight paints the darkness and I see the morning star
The Southern Cross above our heads, I’m reminded who we are.
A spirit of togetherness we were mates before we met
We are proud to be Australian’s and this we won’t forget
“Friendship is about Mates Helping Mates”
but
“Fellowship is about Mates Helping Total Strangers”
