Many outstanding women like Mrs. Garrett live notable lives. In Bible history, it was these notable women who witness Jesus Resurrection, so to in the future Jehovah God has authorize his son Jesus to continue the Resurrection. May this give you comfort in the time of your loss.

Betty Garrett was truly one of a kind -- a terrific singer, dancer, comedienne, actress. Who else lit up both MGM musicals and two of the best 70s sitcoms? Betty had pep and verve combined with a wonderfully irreverent humor. To me, she embodied the best of America's optimistic, energetic spirit -- both in her work and her resillient comeback from blacklisting. I feel like I've lost a dear old friend, and I send my deepest condolences to her family.

I was lucky enough to meet Betty though a production of Follies she appeared in here in Orange County a few years back. She was as gracious and generous a spirit as she was talented. My sympathy to her sons. She was a great lady and I was sorry she and her husband endured such craziness during the McCarthy era. How terribly "un-American" that time was. But she was an indomitable spirit and was still tap dancing into her late 80's! What an inspiration she was. Thank you, Betty.

The precious memories of Betty bring you comfort. However, even in the face of calamity you can have hope. God will comfort and bless you at this critical time. Do not let your hearts be troubled. (John 14:27). Complete reliance on "the God of all comfort" will help to endure his bereavement (2Cor.1:3,4).

Miss Garrett was in "Meet Me in St.Louis" on Broadway-my first job as a dresser. She was so kind to me and was a real trooper. I remember one night she had a stomach flu-- sick in her dressing room one minute and on stage the next--and always at the same high level of performance. What a great talent and soul.

My sympathy and prayers go to the Parks Family in the loss of their loved one. Betty was multi-talented and brought pleasure to all of her countless fans. I enjoyed each of her performances in movies and TV, and not long ago, saw her guest appearance on "Golden Girls". She was admired for her professional life and personal life, and is now rejoined with her husband, Larry Parks, who was a gifted actor. He should have won an Academy Award for his outstanding portrayal of the great Al Jolson in "The Jolson Story" and "Jolson Sings Again." Betty and Larry are together forever and may God bless them both.

Andrew- Some years ago my family was in the clothing business and went to NY twice a year on buying trips. We frequently made mini-vacations out of the trips. And we always stayed the Salisbury Hotel. On this particular trip we took our daughters and my youngest, Stacy, had a chance encounter with your mother on the hotel elevator. Stacy recognized your mother from work she had done on television. I'm sure Stacy got her autograph. Your Mom was in town to see you on stage. That evening we attended the theater (can't remember what) and there was your Mother in the audience. At intermission I went up and introduced myself and thanked her for being so nice to my daughter and she said "oh you mean Stacy?" That was awfully nice I thought. Just wanted you to know. A great talent laid to rest. I know Betty will be singing in the heavenly choir where there is no blacklist. I followed her career but didn't know about the blacklist nor what happened to Larry Parks. I once heard Tom Jones in an interview state that he patterned his style after Larry Parks in the Jolson Story. My condolences to their families in their loss. We have all lost.

I don't remember Betty Garrett prior to her being on "All in the Family" playing the neighbor Irene Lorenzo who always carried around her own tool box full of tools and would always be knocking at Archie's door wanting to fix something that needed repaired at his house. I loved the looks Archie would give her like he really didn't want her to come over and couldn't wait to get rid of her. I forget the guy's character's name who played her husband the Italian cook and would have a dish he made in his hand for Archie's family to eat. They helped make "All in the Family" stay on top in the ratings. We certainly need more sitcoms these days like those to replace some of these "REALITY" shows that are taking over what we used to watch.
