Dear Nancy, Jim, Jeff and Todd,
I am still so sorry that Our Lord has called Jim home to be with Him. I know that he is in a better place and is no longer suffering but it is still hard to lose one of the best friends that I ever had. He was so humble and such a fun loving person; he had a special ability to make everyone feel welcomed and like he was waiting all day just for them to arrive. He definitely made this world a much better place. When I thank Our Lord in my daily prayers for all the many wonderful blessings that He has given me, my friendship with Jimmy is right at the top of the list.
May Our Blessed Mother welcome Jimmy into Our Father's kingdom and a seat on heaven's 50 yard line.
You and your entire family are in our prayers always.
Much love,
Tom Feske

I had the pleasure of meeting Jim when we inducted him into the Shrine Hall of Fame a few years back. I was so impressed by his easy going manner and warm spirit. I only wish I had the opportunity to get to know him further. He will certainly be missed. I am so sorry for your loss. Your family will continue to be in my prayers. God bless!

My best friend in Syracuse N.Y. died and was a Seymour too. Evelyn Seymour was Harolds' mother and she died too. I don't know if they're related, but it's possibile down the lineage somewhere they are. I'm saddened by your loss anyway. I watch the Regis show on TV regularly and he always shouts for ND.

Jim's passing is truly sad news for all ND fans. As a neighbor of Jim and Chuck's on second floor Keenan Hall in 1965-66, I rooted for their success on the football field and watched in admiration when the 1966 team won the National Championship and Jim landed on the cover of Time. Great memories--particularly beating USC 51-0! Thanks to Jim for all those great plays and games. My sympathy and prayers for his family in their time of loss. Bill McCully, ND '69, '70, '73

I feel blessed to have known Jim Seymour and the entire Seymour Family. I met Big Jim after a HS football practice with Jeff 25 years ago. I had no idea that he was a football star. He looked up at me from his couch and said "make your self useful" as he jiggled his empty beer! At Jeff's prompting...I ran down stairs and got him 2 fresh beers. He said, "You are a smart kid..I like you!" The rest is history. He taught me to Snowmobile and took me to ND for games with the family. He fed me when I had no money for food. He called me his fourth Son. I can not express how much I love this man. He was more than a friend's Dad....He was my second Dad. I am so sad today. I will be sad for a long time, but I will know that Jim would not want me to be sad. Two weeks ago, I had my last V.O. Manhattan with Jim. I did not want to finish my drink, because I knew it might be my last with him. My heart will never be complete again. I love him and will carry him in my heart forever...

Jim was a wonderful and loving Uncle and a very special part of our family. We had many memorable visits to "Nance, Jim, Jim, Jeff and Todd's" house growing up and celebrated so many family events and good times together. Such a loving family and a warm, caring and generous man. It always made me proud when I mentioned to anyone, ND fan or not, that my Uncle Jim Seymour played for ND and got the reaction I did -- "Jim Seymour is your Uncle?! Wow, really, he's your Uncle?!" - everyone admired him without exception. Every time I picture Uncle Jim he is smiling, laughing, cracking a joke and being the wonderful guy he is. I will miss you with an ache in my heart, especially during ND season, a time you loved so much. Love you Uncle Jim - you will be with us in our hearts and in spirit always. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Nance, Jim, Jeff and Todd.

To the Seymour Family,

I grew up in South Bend in the shadow of the Golden Dome. The first year I ever watched the Fighting Irish was 1966. It was a magical year, and my younger brother and I used to pretend to be Hanratty and Seymour in the backyard. I still remember Lindsey Nelson yelling "Hanratty to Seymour, touchdown!!"

I'm sure he was so much more to so many others than just an ND football player, but his children and grand children can be proud that to many young kids like my brother and I, he was a true hero! God Bless you Jim Seymour...may you wake up the echoes in heaven forever!

To the Seymour Family:
I was a classmate of Jim's at Notre Dame, and was lucky enough to have lived in Keenan Hall Freshman year, and that's where I got to know him. I will never forget how normal and grounded he was, and how easily he made friends with those of us who didn't happen to be athletes. I will always recall that big broad smile of his, which always welcomed us. I don't think I ever saw him when he didn't have something good or funny to say. His passing hit me so hard, because somehow I have always thought of him as eternally youthful. His athletic achievements were legendary, but I will always remember him as a truly great guy with a great heart. My sincere sympathy to you all, because a big spirit leaves a big vacuum.

To The Family Of Jim Seymour,

What a tragedy! My prayers are with you and your family. May the God of Comfort, bring you and your family comfort during your time of need. 2 Cor. 1:3&4 has helped me tremendously
during my time of need. I hope that it helps you as well. It says:
3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort 4 who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Sincerely

I met Jim Seymour in my parent's backyard when he volunteered to barbeque in the late 80's at a party. I had no idea he had such a great football career until a few years ago. I just knew him as a good golfer, a generous man, and a wonderful father, husband and friend.

He and his family deserved more time together, and they are in my prayers. My deepest condolences.

Jim and I were in the same class together as freshmen. He and I got to the classroom in the administration building early and the door was locked. By that time about five guys gathered there. Growing up in Deerfield and going to Holy Cross, I remember Mr. Seymour being bigger that life. He was always smiling, laughing, and always owned the room. He spent countless hours working with The Boosters raising money and doing charity for Holy Cross. Everyone admired him. As an adult, I got to know him on a different level.
