Butch Lewis Obituary
Funeral home owner Sammy Congo of Congo Funeral Home in Wilmington, Del., says he received notification of Lewis' death on Saturday morning and was expected to meet family members on Sunday.
He did not have information about how Lewis died.
Lewis was best known in the ring for sporting tuxedos with no shirt and being involved in some of the sport's biggest fights. He promoted the Michael Spinks-Mike Tyson fight in 1988 that ended with a first round knock of Spinks, who earned more than $13 million for the fight.
He began his career in boxing in the 1970s, but later branched into music and entertainment.
Before the Zab Judah-Amir Khan fight in Las Vegas on Saturday, Lewis was honored by ring announcer Michael Buffer and given a 10-bell count.

Dear Lewis Family,
We were guests of Butch at a luncheon and dinner that he hosted for Denzel's mother at his home on Bethany Beach on Labor Day weekend of 1997. Not only did he graciously share two sumptious meals with us, but he gave us the opportunity to share in his joy of living on the beach and observing the wonders of God's creation. Just as he predicted, a school of dolphins swam by at sunset. The joy that shone through him as we watched in awe as those magnificent creatures leaped out of the water was priceless. He was the ultimate host that day and his hospitality was greatly appreciated.
We know that he has gone to be with his Heavenly father, who prepares a place for all believers.
May God give you peace and strength in the days ahead.
