Lew Bush Obituary
Bush, who also played for the Kansas City Chiefs, died of an apparent heart attack, the Chargers said in a statement.
It was not immediately clear where Bush died. Public records show he lived in San Diego and he had been a pregame commentator for the Chargers' radio broadcast team.
He is the seventh player from the Chargers' Super Bowl team - which lost 49-26 to the San Francisco 49ers - who has died, and the second this year.
Defensive tackle Shawn Lee died of a heart attack in North Carolina in February at age 44.
Linebacker David Griggs was killed in a Florida car crash in 1995, a week after receiving his AFC championship ring. Running back Rodney Culver and his wife Karen were killed on May 11, 1996, when ValuJet Flight 592 plunged into the Flor ida Everglades shortly after takeoff from Miami International Airport.
Linebacker Doug Miller, 28, was killed by two lightning strikes while camping in Colorado 1998. Center Curtis Whitley, 39, died of a drug overdose in 2008. Defensive lineman Chris Mims was 38 when he died in 2008 of an enlarged heart.

To the family,
Its been some time since Lew passed. I reflect back occasionally over the years the only time I met him. I met Lew after he retired at a draft day function at QualCom doing pr work. He was a most humble and calm man that you would never know was involved in such a violent sport. It was such a great conversation talking about his NFL career. Asked him if he would be willing to pose for a picture in a three point stance opposing each other; yea sure! Staring into his eyes I said "I'm going to rip your head off". Not a word from Lew. I said "don't believe me". Not a word from Lew. Just a shake of the head no. That's what his career was; his play would do the talking and that's what his memory will be for me as a player. I'm sure he was much more than his career. We discussed doing some fishing but he passed before that happened. RIP Big Lew.

Lew was an amazing man. I just found out yesterday. I'm extremely sad by this - I was told by Dee whom I called to see how she was doing with Junior Seau's death - Lew was a great father and always wanted to the best for his family. I'm very upset today by this news. Julie Reyes

Please accept my sincere codolences. Lew was a neighbor of my Mom's at one time, in San Diego. My son was quite the lil' social butterfly and managed to become a friend of Lew's. He had just started playing with the Chargers, and we weren't familiar with his name....My son, told his g'ma he has a friend named Lew Bush, who plays for the Chargers...He told us even saw his uniform, because we thought he was telling us a wild story....Low and behold it was true. I played football with Lew at Washington State University. Amazing memories of Lew being in the same class. He was an awesome athlete with great character.
