My condolences to Mr. Otto's family. I've never met Mr. Otto, but I am friends with his son Frank. Having lived most of my life in Germany I know that he was a visionary businessman who founded the world's largest mail order company. He had considerable influence on Germany's economic, socio-political and social development due to his visionary power, his inventiveness, and entrepreneurial courage. He's also known for his many philanthropical ventures in the art world, as well as for his foundation that supports medical research.

If I m not mistaken Mr. Otto also owned Spiegel for a while in the 1980's. I worked at the warehouse on 35th street in Chicago during that time. Thank you, if it were not for you I would never have had a nice part time job that enabled me to go to college.
