Doris Singleton Obituary
Lucie Arnaz, daughter of Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, confirmed the death in a post on her Facebook page. Singleton died Tuesday, the same day as writer-director Nora Ephron, and Arnaz acknowledged them both in her post, writing, "They were loved and appreciated and will be missed."
Singleton appeared on dozens of TV shows in the 1950s, 60s and 70s, including "Perry Mason," "My Three Sons," "All in the Family" and "Hogan's Heroes."

Doris, besides Ethel Mertz, you were one of my favorite friends of Lucy on the I Love Lucy episodes. Your picture shows that you still were a beautiful woman and I just know you were the same on the inside. As I am sending my heartfelt condolences to your family and friends there is currently an "I Love Lucy" marathon playing on tv, and right this very moment you are in the episode where Lucy and Ethel are running for "club president". My favorite episode of I Love Lucy was when Carolyn and Lucy's boys' parties were scheduled on the same day, but Lucy won when she brought in Superman for Little Ricky's birthday party. May God give Carolyn's family peace and strength during the sad days ahead.

Lucy reruns. I believe some of the viewers are confusing Doris as Ethel on the show. Ethel died years ago. Doris
played Lucy's next door when they moved to the country. Lucy planted wax flowers
in Carolyn Appleby's garden also she was in her card club. Lucy, Carolyn and Ethel are together again in a better place.
Doris was a good actress and will be missed.

I had SUCH a crush on Carolyn Appleby when I was about 12 years old. She was my favorite character on "I Love Lucy." NOTE: Many of you are confusing Doris Singleton with Vivian Vance (who died way back in 1979), who of course played Ethel Mertz.
