Kyle Bennett Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 15, 2012.
HOUSTON (AP) — Olympic BMX cyclist Kyle Bennett has been killed in an automobile accident in eastern Texas. He was 33.

A statement from USA Cycling says the single-vehicle crash happened early Sunday in Conroe, Texas, north of Houston.

Bennett was a three-time BMX world champion and won an automatic spot on the first U.S. BMX Olympic team in 2008.

In the statement, USA Cycling CEO Steve Johnson said Bennett was a pioneer in Olympic BMX cycling and an inspiration to those who knew him.

Bennett is survived by his fiancé and a young daughter.

I was viewing my own sons obituary and came across this one. My son was Kyle ray Bennett and was killed in a car wreck as well. I found it so ironic and compelled to reach out. I hope over the years the family of Kyle have found some peace and many precious memories of him. God bless

The Rose Beyond the Wall
near a shady wall a rose once grew,Budded and blossomed in God's free light,Watered and fed by morning dew, Shedding its sweetness day and night. As it grew and blossomed fair and tall,Slowly rising to loftier height,It came to a crevice in the wall, Through which there shone a beam of light.Onward it crept with added strength With never a thought of fear or pride, It followed the light through the crevice's length and unfolded itselfon the other side. The light the dew, the broadening view Were found the same as they were before, and it lost itself in beauties new, breathing its fragrance more and more. shall claim of death cause us to grieve and make our courage faint and fall? Nay!let us faith and hope recieve- the rose still grows beyond the wall, Scattering fragrance far and wide just as it did in days of yore, just as it did on the other side, Just as it will forever more. R.I.P. Kyle Bennett, may you fly with the angels and watch over your precious little girl and Mother and family....

Our son Noah signed up for one of Kyle's BMX clinics during the summer. He thought the world of Kyle, and wrote an essay about him and the sport of BMX for school. Kyle was a dedicated teacher and a positive role model for so many kids. Our deepest sympathy goes out to the family. May he rest in peace.

Kyle was such a great mentor for kids of all ages. I know my son Jeremy Smith looked up to him. Kyle always took the time to talk to and school anyone who needed it. I remember taking Jeremy to Kyles house back when Jeremy was racing and he always took the time to give him or anyone who was there pointers. Kyle, you will be missed greatly. My thoughts & prayers go out to his family during this difficult time.

Donnell, there are no words I can say to diminish the sorrow so I will always thrive on the memories of Kyle taking my boys under his wing when they were 6 and 3. Kyle was only 10 at the time, but never refused his time or his kindness. We will continue to cherish those memories and our prayers are with you.

Dear Kyle, I was shock when I heard of your passing and so was your BMX family. From the stories we have read about your devotion to BMX and your love of the sport, you will be missed by many. You open your heart to the new riders and always having a kind word of encouragement to all. Because of this I know why God took you from us at such a young age (he wanted you near him). I have also read many riders say that they will try harder and work out more to be that better rider, because of you. So even in death you still inspire so many. God bless you and also help your family and friends get though this. We all love you.

I did not personally know Kyle but it is so sad,he was so young and full of life...We have to know that God never purposed for such a short life rather that we live forever.Eccl. 3:11 It will be so nice when we can live and have the "days of a tree" living life the way God purposed..I hope that you can find comfort in these hopes and promises and you are in my thoughts.

O for a day to walk again slow through a forest deep O for the time to talk again before I go to sleep O for the warmth of summer sun the chill of winters eve and O for the chance to sing my song once more before I go O for the scent of autumn air brisk clean and cold O for the chance to travel where the seas are blue and bold O for the prayer I never prayed O for the kiss I never kissed and O for the chance to sing my song once more while yet I missed cry of bird and wail of wind word unspoken sin un-sinned a night to dance a hill to climb the chance to sing while there is time O for the taste of meat and ale to linger on my tongue O for the sight of hill and dale and faces that are young O for the hand of one I love the time to bloom and grow and O for the chance to sing my song once more before I go.

May the peace of God be with all of you now and forever.

To the fiance, family, and friends of Kyle,
Losing someone is one thing, losing someone unexpectely is one of the most difficult things one can ever face. My heart, thoughts, and prayers go out to you. When I went through a similar experience, these words helped comfort me , " Jehovah is near to those that are broken at heart, and those who are crushed in spirit he saves."
