Avielle Richman Obituary
Avie had moved to Sandy Hook from San Diego about two years ago with her parents, Jeremy Richman and Jennifer Hensel.
"They still call Avielle their California girl," Melissa C. Stewart, a family friend, told the San Diego Union-Tribune. "When they first moved here, it was hard to keep shoes on Avielle because she was so used to running barefoot on the beach in San Diego."
In a blog called "Avielle's Adventures," Jeremy Richman would tell friends about their family life: trips to the Thanksgiving Day parade in Stamford, Arielle's 6th birthday at the horse stable, a road trip to Iowa.
In August, he wrote about the newest milestone for his "little hummingbird," who was about to start first g rade.
"We can't believe it," he wrote. "Jenn and I are both very nervous and excited."

I have felt heartbroken for all of the victims' families since December 14, 2013, but only today did I learn that this little girl, Avielle, was an only child. The desolation her parents must feel is beyond my capacity for words. They have shown amazing courage in the face of such a devastating loss. May God keep Avielle close & grant her parents strength until they are reunited in heaven.

It's been a year since your darling Avie went away
Since you've seen her it seems like forever and a day.
With your heart aching it seems it will never heal
It seems like the loneliness you will forever feel.
But know that she's happy and will watch over you from above
Know that through Jesus she feels your warmth and love.
You see, when she got to Heaven Jesus was waiting to welcome her home
Allowing her to choose a horse of her very own.

The name she chose was 'Betty' of course.

Her spitfire personality was unusual for one so small
