At age 6, no one could tell me Sugarfoot wasn't my first musical boyfriend. Skin Tight is and will always have the funkiest bass intro ever! The industry never gave The Ohio Players the recognition they deserved but WE will ALWAYS appreciate the way they were (and still are) FUNKIN' FOR OHIO! ~Love, A Cincinnati Girl~

I always wanted to meet this Man. I have been playing guitar professionally for 35 years. Everything I know about Guitar, I learned by listening to this Man. Mr. Bonner was my musical mentor. I owe him everything. I am a professional musician living & playing in the Washington D.C. area. When Mr. Bonner passed away, a apiece of me went away with him. May God Welcome Him As A Friend.

These Ohio Players served as a role model of sorts for a young impressionable kid, The first time I saw them I said "these dudes are bad!" and I wished to be just like them. Sounds naive now but they helped me grow up, I miss he type of music they made.

Sitting here watching UNSUNG reminiscing of the time you came to Starplex Amphitheater in Dallas. The Ohio Players were the closing act. It was the end of October and the weather had started to change. A lot of people had started to leave because they were under dressed, therefore I got a chance to go down front right in front of the stage. I positioned myself in front of Sugarfoot with the intentions of asking him to marry me, although my husband was standing right behind me. Lol

"SUGARFOOT" Thanks for bringing the FUNK and putting the Midwest on the map in the music industry back in the 70's. I can still see myself doing the bump to my favorite song "SKIN TIGHT" and never getting tired, everybody knew that was going to be 15mins of non-stop dancing. Thanks, for showing that AFRICAN AMERICAN women are beautiful by being one of the first bands to put us on your front album covers....MUCH LOVE...MUCH LOVE......I WILL ALWAYS LOVE ❤ THE MUSIC AND WILL NEVER FORGET "THE OHIO PLAYERS"......RIP

Sugarfoot sung to me at a gathering at Brownstone restaurant in Columbus Ohio. He sat on a stool the whole time he sung and I knew he wasn't feeling like himself. He seranaded me with Heaven Must Be Like This and even though his voice was a little weak, he sounded just like the record. I got my picture taken with him and will forever remember that day. Met Mr. Bonner in Baton Rouge at the Bellemont Ballroom.I was told he would be coming right past me to get to the stage, but I was looking for someone really tall.Didn't recognize him,but I met him later after the concert. He was shorter than I expected, but was really, really hospitable and down to earth soulful.I am so sorry he is gone.

WOW. Didnt know he passed. Leroy"Suger Foot"Bonner in my book has definatly left his mark in the musical world of funk.. The Ohio Players had this unique style of funk that made you simply sit up and take notice, Im talking hits such as PAIN, FUNKY WORM, I WANT TO BE FREE, FUNK-O-NOTTS as well as a gang of other toe tapping jams...Leroy"Sugarfoot"Bonner I think I speak for MILLIONS when I say THANK YOU for your contribution to the world of music...To this day I STILL listen to the OHIO PLAYERS and ENJOY as if Im hearing it for the 1st time. Mr Leroy Bonner your work here is done, may you rest in the arms of the LORD and may GOD be with your family and friends in all times of need...REST MY BROTHER
