Bobby Rogers Obituary
Motown Museum board member Allen Rawls says Rogers died Sunday morning at his home.
Rogers had been ill for several years. He lived in the Detroit suburb of Southfield.
Rogers formed the group in 1956 with cousin Claudette Rogers, Pete Moore, Ronnie White and Robinson. Their hits included "I Second That Emotion" and "The Tears of a Clown." Rogers and The Miracles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
He shared songwriting credits with Robinson on The Temptations' "The Way You Do the Things You Do," The Contours' "First I Look at the Purse" and The Miracles' "Going to a Go-Go."

Joan and the entire Rogers Family, My deepest sympathy at the loss of Bobby. He was a great guy that I met at age 12 at the Harlem Apollo. My mom use to cook for the Miracles & the Temptations and take food for them to enjoy between shows (in the 60s). Then we relocated to Detroit (right around the corner from Benny's (Mullins) Flamingo, where all the Motown men had their hair maintained and or shopped at Jack's Esquire. Aww those were the days. Bobby was NEVER too busy to take a picture, sign an autograph or just acknowledge a passer-by who saw him and yelled out a "hello". He had a larger than life personality and such a sense of humor. As his family I know you all will miss him more but to his fan's we appreciated his down-to-earth and caring personality. He will be sorely missed but his talent will live forever.

I am so very sorry for your personal loss -- it is a very difficult thing to lose a loved one and no matter how ill he was, death is still a shock. I did not know Mr. Rogers personally but I grew up listening to the classic soul music of the Miracles as a young kid and it defined and will forever define my love of classic soul and R&B. Just within the last week two weeks, I had discovered a video of Smokey and the Miracles and was playing it everyday because I love the tall Mr. Rogers dancing in it. I had been happy to discover he was alive and was deeply saddened when I learned of his recent death. Fans of the classic soul genre have lost another iconic and legendary music giant. May he rest in peace.

I sincerely offer my condolence for the Rodgers family. Times like this cause us sadness. Our love one's death bring us face to face with the fact that they are gone to soon. So when a love one past, no matter who we are its painful. God not only knows but he cares! Jesus said; "Do not two sparrows sell for a coin of small value? yet not one of them will fall to the ground without your fathers knowledge. You are worth more than many sparrows (Matt 10:29,31). As a child growing up in Michigan, I was very fortunate to have many 'Uncle's, and one of them was Bobby Rogers. His humor and upbeat happiness made him unforgettable.
