Scott Norris Obituary
Scott Norris, 28, was known around Prescott through his part-time job at Bucky O'Neill Guns.
"Here in Arizona the gun shops are a lot like barbershops. Sometimes you don't go in there to buy anything at all, you just go to talk," said resident William O'Hara. "I never heard a dirty word out of the guy. He was the kind of guy who if he dated your daughter, you'd be OK with it.
"He was just a model of a young, ideal American gentleman."
O'Hara's son Ryan, 19, said Norris' life and tragic death had inspired him to live a more meaningful life.
"He was a loving guy. He loved life. And I've been guilty of not looking as happy as I should, and letting things get to me, and Scott wasn't like that at all."

I pray Scott's loved ones have "the peace that passes all understanding". May his loved ones be comforted always by the love he left and by the love of God he promised to comfort those bereaved. The firefighters were a special group and will never be forgotten, never be forgotten.

The world is full of men, but what of men noble and true?
Can you say that you have known such a man?
These men are far too few.
But let me tell you a a story,
About a team of men
Who left behind a legacy
That will not be forgotten.
Highly trained,
They passed every test,
Chosen to fight wild fires,
They were called the best.
One scorching June day in 2013,
When a wildfire raged
The Hotshots were called upon
To battle the fiery blaze.
Armed with tools and heavy gear,
They set out in their prime,
No job too hard for these men,
No hill too tall to climb.
Command was set, plans were made
To tackle the fire's wrath
But winds shifted unexpectedly
And they were trapped in the fire's path.
19 men were caught that day,
The fire drew quickly near
Though they knew they were truly trapped,
Not a one showed fear.
Dig your shelters, men came the command,
Each one knew what this meant
They dug with haste and with one final look
They took to their tents.
Then let us look away,
For we cannot bear
What came to each one next,
Each man endured in those fiery moments,
His final Hotshot test.
And when the aid finally found the men,
The blackened landscape bore
The testimony of death everywhere,
And the men who were no more.
Oh children, your father was so brave,
A man who did his best
In work excelled, he fought to save,
withstanding every test.
Dear widow, may you never shed
another tear at some unhappy strife
For you've suffered enough dread
The day your husband lost his life.
Young sweetheart, your hopes and dreams
Lay in ashes, from the fire's wrath
May you find hope and dream once more
Though sorrow has changed your path.
Sad mother, your beautiful son,
your joy and your pride
Whom you succored with patient love,

Scott will be remembered fondly by family, friends, and all that were lucky enough to have known him. I have driven the road through Yarnell and Peeples Valley on my way to Prescott so many times. It will be difficult to go through there for a while, and I will salute all of these brave, young men every time from now on. God bless them and keep them, and their families, forever!

My only regret is I never met Scott in person. He loved my dear friends truly, and deeply, and just by the way she spoke of him, I knew he was the one for her. Distance kept our visits, sparse - But Scott, for the last two years, you were a treasure, and the true love of Heather. Thank you for protecting her, loving her, and bringing her the happiness she so richly deserves. May she continue to honor your memory the rest of your life, and look down on her from Heaven, because she still needs you right now. Thank you for being a Hero, for sacrificing yourself for the safety of others... but mostly, thank you for being the love of Heathers life. We all feel her loss right now.
