Larry still brings a smile to my face eventhough he has been gone 11 years. WLS was my go to rock station in the 1970s and Larry as Uncle Lar was guaranteed to make me chuckle even when faced with the ups and downs of high-school, college and girlfriends.
Thanks for the memories......

WLS came in Loud and clear on my transister radio during the late 60´s to early 70s, where I worked on a farm east of Benton Harbor, Michigan.
Listening to Ol Uncle Lar made my day a lot more fun while packing strawberries.

Priscilla said Larry was missed long before he left this earth. Boy, is that the truth! I will never forget how sad I was when he left WLS! Listening to him during my years of teenage angst brought me a bit of sorely needed laughter every school day. I truly have missed him ever since. I send condolences to his family and, like Priscilla, hope to hear him again in heaven someday. He was the best, never equaled.

Living outside Ft. Wayne, Indiana, it was difficult to get a good signal from WLS, but listing to Larry Lujack was well-worth the effort. My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends.

My deepest condolences to the entire Lujack family. To you he was the center of your life, your Rock of Gibraltar, your everything. To us he was the guy who talked us into walking out the door in the morning and trying to get the rest of the day right without taking ourselves too seriously. To those of us blessed to make a living in the same way he did he was the gold standard that we still battle to reach.
Know that in your sorrow that your Larry made the world a better place for more people than you could ever imagine.

I will never forget driving along the Dan Ryan Expressway in the spring of l973 and hearing Larry read a live commercial for the VW Bug. at that time, there was a sniper shooting at cars off of overpasses, and in typical Larry Lujack style, he finished the commercial and then added, "and there's another great feature of the VW Bug too..it's smaller in size than just about any other car, so your chances of getting shot are so much less!"

I got to meet "Uncle Lar" three days before Larry Lujack retired from Radio at the lobby of WLS Studios in Chicago. I worked in Radio at the time and he was very nice and polite to talk to in person. What I will always remember, was all of the "inside" jokes he had for his job. Plus you add the "Cheap, Trashy, Showbiz" report as well as "Animal Stories" to his radio credits. If there was one person who got me out of bed in the mornings before I left for school back in the 1970s and 1980s, It Was Larry Lujack. May God bless you Uncle Lar, as well as your family.

Uncle Lar was my hero when I worked the tollway as a trooper. Later a good friend Jeff Laird who had a voice like Larry's said he was doing a gig with Larry from out west. So sorry to hear of Larry's passing. I remember sneaking under my bedspread with my transistor radio to listen to the latest hits on WLS when I was suppose to be sleeping!and every year we went out west on vacation to visit the relatives, I couldn't wait to get close enough to Chicago to pick up WLS on my radio in the backseat of Dad's car. I knew then I was almost home and my homesickness was over. Thanks for being my friend over the airwaves Larry and for all the memories you didn't even know you provided me and thousands of other teenagers thru out your career. I am so sorry to hear about Lar's passing and the Lujack family's loss is my loss too. To this fan formerly living in northern Indiana he brought smiles with his "Clunk Letter of the Day". I remember him labeling Tammy Wynette a psychedelic cowgirl, his St. Valentines Day Address in 68, his opinion of communists and his good nature attack on Chris Stevens because Chris owned 1 Corvette and for the same money Lar owned 2 Mustangs. What a joy he was to all of his fans.
