Edmund Johnson Obituary
Pease Greeters Chairman Chuck Cove says Capt. Edmund Johnson died Monday night of breast cancer. He was 84. The Portsmouth Herald (http://bit.ly/JrhG2X ) says Johnson was a decorated U.S. Marine Corps infantry officer during the Korean War who co-founded the greeters in 2005.
The Pease Greeters are volunteers who attend the landings and takeoffs of all military flights at Portsmouth International Airport at Pease.
The group also mails care packages and organizes volunteer efforts to support veterans, members of the armed services and their families. The co-founders were honored in 2010 by the Military Officers Association of America, and members met with President Bush in 2008.

Although I did not know Mr Johnson personally, I was diagnosed with breast cancer last year at this time at Exeter Hospital, Exeter NH. In the support center I was given information on breast cancer and a calendar which included a photo of Edmund Johnson and I thought I didn't know men got this type of cancer. I read his story and was very impressed and because of him was made aware that men can get breast cancer too. I am very sorry for the loss of this wonderful caring man. He will be truly missed by all those he touched in his life. Take good care and know that he is watching over you now.
