While going through old papers this morning, I came across a report I did that Chet helped me with- he is so missed! I cannot believe it has been five years. When I was a college student studying journalism, one of my requirements was to interview someone in the profession. My goal was to speak with one of the anchors I grew up watching in my hometown on Boston, and Chet was #1 on my list, since I admired him so much. Being one of the most well known, influential (and busy!) figures in the city, I didn't even expect to receive a reply back. But the reply came within minutes. He invited me to come to the studio and spend the day with him. I will always treasure those memories. At one point we sat in the studio lunchroom, just talking for an hour. He told me about his most memorable day on the job- the fall of the Berlin wall- and how unbelievable it was to be able to cover it. I asked him how he still had the energy and drive to continue working at such a strenuous pace after decades in the industry. He replied with a smile "I've never 'worked' as a news anchor a day in my life! I feel like one of the luckiest people in the world- I found a way to do something I love, and when you're able to find that passion, it doesn't feel like work. That is the secret to life!". We continued to stay in touch, and he always provided helpful words and guidance. I feel so lucky to have known Chet, and think about him and the family he spoke so lovingly of often. - Laura Domineau

This was truly an amazing person with so much talent the loss is clearly ours. Prayers fill our hearts and burst forth from our mouths to God asking him to let us remember clearly the love we have for this wonderful person gone from our lives never forgetting the joy we shared. Hebrews 6:10.

Just adding. He was such a great man. I never realized he lived in Quincy. I have a pancreas problem. I can see he had to suffer some pain. To Kerry, I didn't know your name. My sympathy to all. Even Natalie, even though a marriage breaks up, your love doesn't. I think it's Lindsey who was born around the same time as my daughter. He was one superb anchorman. I remember seeing the team of Chet and Natalie always. My sympathy to the family and friends.

Dawn, Dana, Lindsay and Kerry, I am deepely saddened by your loss. Chet was a childhood friend and neighbor on Jay Street. We were classmates throughout our school age years. I remember him performing on Teen Age Barn in Schenectady almost every Friday. A great entertainer, singer, and very humble person. When visiting my wife's gravesite at St. Stanislaus i surely will stop to say a prayer or two for on old Friend Chet. My first (news) Floor Director job (1966) was running the teleprompter and cueing Chet weekdays on Newsday at 1PM on WTOP-TV, Washington, DC.
I remember when he told me he was leaving the station...that he was hired at WCBS-TV in New York.
You could tell then that he was a first-rate talent (with class)and was always well-liked by all who knew him.

New England has lost one of its most memorable and honest "sons". News has not been the same since the "Chet and Natalie" news changed years ago but his death is the final sign that it will certainly never be the same. This has been somewhat of a ''long good-bye'' to Chet for those of us who reside ' on the 'other side of the screen.' In some ways we lost him when the Chet/Nat team left TV. The news has not been the same since then. My condolences to Kerry, to his three daughters and to Natalie. Truly, Love is never lost---but it does take a while to realize that when the one who is loved is no longer able to 'walk with us.''.

After life-long residency in Massachusetts, I and my husband, relocated to Florida in 2011. Our local newspaper, The Daily Sun, profiled Chet's passing as a 'notable death.' How true!
As baby-boomers, we grew up with Chet and Nat. When their family circumstances changed, we still enjoyed seeing Chet on NECN.
Rest in peace Chet.

There are times in life when you are fortunate to have the opportunity to meet a very special person. A person you admire for all they have accomplished in their life and their contributions to so many. Chet Curtis is one of those people. He was a man who was very successful and yet remained humble and warm to all those he met. He was loved by all New Englanders for so many decades. There will never be another Chet and will always be remembered and missed by all.
To his family, I am sorry for your loss and offer you my deepest condolences.
To my friend Chet, it was my honor to have you as my friend and will always cherish the memories. Rest in peace.

We never met Chet personally, but we did experience his warm spirit from a short distance when we were at the Beth Israel Hospital Maternity Department on Sunday May 24, 1981. We watched him and Natalie preparing to leave the hospital with their new baby daughter. He was so happy as he held his new baby. He generously thanked everyone who came by to wish him well. Some were nurses; some were doctors; some were aides and maintenance persons. Of course we'll remember that day as our son's birthday, and we'll remember Chet's warm and outgoing spirit shown to everyone. We pray that your sweet memories outpace your sadness.

Growing up in Boston Area: Chet Curtis, Natalie Jacobsen and company introduced by the equally legendary Ernie Anderson as the stirring NewsCenter5 theme "And You" hit the airwaves meant it was indeed 'News time in Boston' and you were going to get informed by the best in the biz for a quarter century/a half dozen U.S. presidencies, but my fondest memory of Mr. Curtis was his appearance on WCVB's kids show "Jabberwocky" in the early 1970s/early into his tenure in Newham and how warmly and wonderfully he interacted with Frank (the protagonist puppet on the show) talking about his job - it was awesome! We will all miss you, sir... A heartfelt Goodnight and Godspeed, Chet. Condolences to your many friends and family.

My recollection of Chet goes way back to Amsterdam NY when he was a young boy and would come over
to my play with my cousin John who lived upstairs. He was a cute kid with a mop of curly hair. He and my cousin would walk to school together every day and one day he didn't come out of the house and John discovered that his father had just died. I always remembered his sad story. I was always so happy to see how well he did in his career and watched he and Nat on the news each night. My
