To the Henning Family: I am deeply saddened by Alan's death and my heart hurts for the manner in which it took place. Alan will be remembered in my neighborhood as a man of self-sacrificing love and devotion to helping those less fortunate than himself. Find comfort in knowing that others are grieving with you, and that the "Prince of Peace" will soon reign over peace lovers and peacemakers throughout the earth. May the God of all comfort be with you during the difficult time ahead.

---Dear Family: I'm really sorry that you have to experience this critical moment, and that Alan had to go through all that suffering. I know that no words could ease the grief, and that every family is different in their journey of healing. Psalms 9:9- But our Heavenly Father can become your Stronghold in these moments off need. May you be granted strength and comfort to cope with your loss. Please accept my sincere sympathy...

The world needs more people like Mr Henning, not fewer. His loss means one person less who will put aside political and religious differences for the greater good. A sad time, a heartbreaking time, and my thoughts are with Mr Henning's loved ones.
October 6, 2014
I would like to express my sincere condolences for your great loss. Please take comfort in drawing close to God in prayer, knowing that he cares about you and is there to help you cope (Psalm 34:17,18, Philippians 4:6,7). Someday soon there will be no more death and we will live on an earth where God will fulfill our every desire (Psalms 37:29). Until that time, I pray that those close to the deceased find strength and comfort in each other.

To the Henning Family,
So deeply sorry for the loss of your husband and father.
It's just so hard to believe that such cruelty can take place and we set with our hands tied.
I didn't know your loved one but only seeing him on the news.
We have a God that will sustain you through
this difficult time and in times to come.
He must of love what he was doing and I'm sure the people that he helped were very grateful that he was there too.
Sincerely,
October 5, 2014

It is hard to think that someone who only went to Syria to help the displaced can be so cruelly and publicly murdered, apparently by one of his own countrymen, what can these young men be thinking of..... if we can believe all we hear. I live in alan's area in the north of england. He or his family may have gone to my home town of blackpool on holiday. Anyway I am gutted by what has happened. He was a very good man trying to make a difference and help the children he cared so much about. it wasn't to do with religion but his kind heart. Do you see that!!! Bless you - my heart is breaking for you and your family.....my best regards and please don't forget him

Alan Denning, a man who wasn't content to sit back, instead he sacrificed his earnings, his Christmas, his home, his family to make a difference to those whose needs were greater than any of us can imagine. We all now know he also made the ultimate sacrifice. Alan was an 'ordinary bloke' who, in wanting to make a difference, proved himself to be an extra-ordinary man. Let us hope that his sacrifice acts as a catalyst for change and a force for unity rather than the gut reaction of division. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. RIP Alan.
