Robert Belfour Obituary
Belfour was found at his home Feb. 25 by his sister-in-law and nephew, according to the Memphis Commercial Appeal.
Belfour, whose father taught him to play the guitar at an early age, learned the blues from musicians such as R.L. Burnside, Junior Kimbrough and Otha Turner. His percussive playing style emanated from Mississippi's hill country.
A construction worker for nearly half of his life, Belfour began performing on Memphis' Beale Street in the 1980s. In 1994, eight of his songs were included in a compilation album, "The Spirit Lives On: Deep South Country Blues and Spirituals in the 1990s," by David Evans.
Belfour later cut two albums for the Fat Possum Records label, 2000's "What's Wrong With You" and his 2003 follow-up, "Pushin' My Luck."
