Sweet journey Ms. Wilson. I loved you in the 1957 film, This Could Be The Night, with Tony Franciosa and Jean Simmons. Beautiful sing renditions and such a playful, mischievous role. You will be missed.

Julie's film was "This could be the night" not "It happened one night". I apologize for my mistake in my post.

I first met Julie in the 1980's when she was appearing at Club 4500 in Dallas. She and Billy Roy, and I became fast friends. We would stay up talking for hours after the show. She was such a sincere and lovely person. I adored her. She was so kind to me. I had the privilege of escorting her to a screening of her film, " It happened one night", and afterward she sang " I'm still here", and brought the house to a standing ovation. To show my appreciation for the evening, ( and for being my dear friend) I had a party at my home, for she and Billy. I gave her a pair of soft comfortable slippers that were shaped like lady "vamps", and she just loved them. Years later my partner of 30 years and I went to see her at the Kaufman Theater in NYC. She dedicated the show to me, and finished with the song "Hey old friend." She asked Bob and I back to her dressing room, and showed him the slippers I had given her nearly two decades earlier! They were in perfect condition! I said to her ( through tears) " how can you still have these?" She said " I love them, they're so comfortable, I only wear them in my dressing room, and they remind me of you! This is the kind of dear soul, this lovely lady, with her caring heart, always was, and always will be in Bob's and my heart. Rest in peace my dear friend, I shall always love and cherish the time we spent together! You're kind shall never pass this way again....My heart is with you Holt, she always spoke of you with such pride.

I saw Julie perform twice in London and she brought us style, sophistication and class with her marvellous cabaret show. She could be saucy and funny but also sincere and heartfelt. She filled the room with her sparkling presence. She is a sad loss to the world of intimate cabaret.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences; words cannot begin to express the sadness you are feeling right now, but I am praying that God will grant you the strength needed to get through this moment in your life. Throw your distress on Him because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:6, 7).

I have known Julie since the 1980's and she became like another mother to me when I worked as her accompanist on 3 month a cross country tour. She was one of a kind. Both broad and lady. We all knew this day was coming, even though we hoped it wouldn't. The worst part of life. She was a marvelous performer and underneath all the glamour, a very fragile person. I don't think she ever got over losing her son, Mike. We talked about that many times over many tears through the years. Hopefully they are reunited now in Heaven and her heart can finally be at peace. She only is survived by one real blood family member, her soon Holt. An actor. But so many people called her Mom or felt like she was a part of their family.

Julie was THE PEOPLE'S STAR. She was always kind and accessible way beyond her talents and I have no doubt that, like myself, anyone and everyone who knew her got a genuine rush of joy and pride when starting a sentence, "my friend, Julie Wilson........" because it was the absolute truth. Thank you, Julie for almost 40 years of friendship.

I met Julie on a plane ride from New York to Chicago in the early 80's. I had no idea at the time who she was and I think she both knew that and enjoyed being able to talk with someone who wasn't a starstruck fan. It was not much later that I discovered to whom I'd been speaking and got to speak to her again at night club where I'd just sung. I was able to see here several times at the Algonquin and was always careful to say hello. I think she had a great fondness for people and spoke to that through her singing. We'll all miss her.

I was so sorry to hear about Julie's death. She was one of the best teachers I ever worked with (at the Cabaret Symposium in the late 90s). Incredibly helpful, all comments were to the point (and kindly given - no venom from Julie, only very helpful and pertinent comments). It is many years since our paths crossed, but I have such wonderful, happy memories of a great lady.
