Errol Brown Obituary
Manager Phil Dale said the singer, best known for hits "You Sexy Thing" and "It Started With A Kiss," died earlier Wednesday of liver cancer. Dale said Brown's death had come as a surprise.
"(Brown) had been poorly over the past few months but he never discussed it," Dale said. "He'd be sadly missed by his friends and family. He was an extremely good personal friend."
Brown moved to Britain from Jamaica with his mother at age 12. In 2003, he was honored by Queen Elizabeth II for his services to pop music and made a Member of the Order of the British Empire.
Hot Chocolate released their first record "Love is Life" in 1970, and enjoyed numerous chart hits in the 1970s. In 1981, they played at a pre-wedding party for Prince Charles and Lady Diana in Buckingham Palace.
Brown is survived by his wife, Ginette, and two daughters.

Our Deepest Condolences to the Brown family. I cannot begin to imagine the void, pain and loss that you feel. As I watch Errol on BBC 4 right now, his music brings back such joyous memories, he is a Legend. May he Rest in Eternal Peace. His Spirit lives on into Eternity.

This news was so sad. The same name as my son's father. Born in the same Country place [Jamaica] as my son's father. He sang like my son's father. The only difference was the year and D.O.B.

My deepest condolences to Errol Brown's two daughters (Collette and Leonia) and wife, Ginette. May the LORD comfort and sustain you all.
A Child's Prayer, Love is Life and Emma, amongst others, were my favorite tracks.
One track that has not been talked about on the forums honoring Errol is "Confetti Day" written by Russ Ballard I believe. I'm beginning to understand (perhaps) that part of that song's lyric....("....when the preacher say, say I do, Gennie I looked at you, and I knew what I was doing was right....") could be a reference to Ginette his lovely wife. I'm sure the Lord is pleased by Errol's 30 years of marriage to his wife. May the Lord bless you and your daughters Ginette.

Errol Brown made a great name for himself both before God and among men, his fans and friends. I hope knowing that Errol is forever free of sickness and pain provides some solace for his family. Sad news. There was a time in the 1980s that I used to see him most Sundays, he encouraged me to create my signature Lasagne, you could say 'it started with a dish!' The last contact I had with him was a Christmas card about 12 years ago, I can't begin to imagine how distraught his beautiful family are right now, he was the most gentlemanly gentleman you could wish to meet, a good soul with a heart of gold. Errol, you were my first crush and my all-time favourite singer. That will never change. I knew Errol at West London College where we both studied HND in Business Studies mid in 1960s. A really genuine bloke with a good sense of humour and a mocking laugh. Lost touch but did see him perform. The more I think about those days the sadder I feel. My sincere condolences to his family.
