Michael King Obituary
A family member confirms King died Wednesday in Los Angeles of complications from pneumonia. He was 67.
With his brother Roger, Michael King inherited King World Productions in 1972 from their father, Charles King, who had founded the company eight years earlier to syndicate classic "Our Gang" theatrical comedy shorts.
Under the brothers' management, King World rose to be the industry's leading distributor of first-run syndicated programming, bringing such shows to TV as "The Oprah Winfrey Show" and "Dr. Phil."
The King-syndicated "Wheel of Fortune" paired host Pat Sajak and letter turner Vanna White. It has remained a hit for decades, as has the syndicated "Jeopardy!" that King World re-introduced, having obtained the rights to both game shows.
King World also launched the long-running syndicated news magazine "Inside Edition."
Roger King died in 2007 at age 63.
In 2000, King World was acquired by CBS.
Michael King is survived by his wife Jena, two sons and two daughters.

RIP Mr King, your passionate support for youngsters who have the dream to become a world champion boxer demonstrated to all of us volunteers of USA Boxing, the national governing body of Olympic-style boxing in America will continue to be felt to all of us as long as we live. Your generosity and active participation was a joy to feel at your sponsorship of So Cal's "Blue & Gold" Tournament. The manner you handled yourself while showing your humility is unforgettable. Thank you for the hour we spent over the telephone one afternoon. Your spirit lives inside many of us truly and deeply touched. Was watching Super Soul Sunday with Oprah and she mentioned that Michael had crossed over, stopped me in my tracks, I met Michael when I was at a café on Sunset with a friend and he came in with a buddy,
this was over 20 years ago, he was boisterous and fun, I got to work with him and meet his wife, he loved his family and was a kind man. He had humanity in Hollywood which is a rare commodity. I am saddened that he has left but knowing he has reunited with Roger and his loved ones is of some comfort.

Micheal King was amazing! He donated to our schools and our city parks. He even donated the swings at De Anza Park in Calabasas as a favor tour Rush Family. Come ride the swings and think of Micheal. I will really miss our telephone coversations that were inspirational to me. Thank you Micheal for everything. I loved you! You did so much for our family!

I first met Michael when I was a Program Manager at a station in Cleveland Ohio. I was young and new to my job, he was younger and new to his.
We were kids trying to act like adults. I believe we bought the Little Rascals, but the thing I loved the most was that we went outside and ended out meeting with a snowball fight.
Michael and Roger were the best in the business. But they were the best in their private lives too. They helped many, and never talked about it. they built an empire and still remembered those who were there for them in the beginning.
My heart felt sorrow to the entire King family, this is a tragic loss.
