Jerry Collins Obituary
Collins was born in Apia, Samoa and raised in Porirua — a blue collar suburb on the outskirts of the New Zealand capital Wellington. He showed huge potential at an early age, winning selection for the New Zealand secondary schools team and being voted Player of the Tournament at the Junior World Cup in 1999.
His elevation to the All Blacks in 2001 — his first season in Super Rugby and at the age of only 20 — was no surprise and, though injury briefly interrupted his international career, he returned to the All Blacks from 2003 to become a regular starter.

Absolutely gutted when I heard about the accident. Not because of Jerry's rugby exploits but because of who he was off the field, so a great guy and a massive role model and ambassador to the game. RIP Jerry and wife. Munster and Ireland rugby are forever fans.

No words can describe how I'm feeling right now...you were a true inspiration to many especially my children you taught them many things about culture ect and told my son that in life you should never be afraid of anyone apart from your parents....you should chase your dreams and live life to the full which you certainly did.My neighbours stil talk about the many mornings you showered out the back with a hose and the many events we attented and you never had shoes on, the year and half we spent together never had a dull moment... I will never forget the stories you told me about your family and the life you had and believe me I'll never forget you my heart is broken I experienced things in that time that I never would have if I hadn't met you... Xmas day was a fine moment to walking in my kitchen and finding nearly every animal you can possibly name and eat cooking in my kitchen.... I have so many stories and memories to hold on to that will live on forever my heart goes out to your family and your daughter RIP JC aka SUPIDOG A TRUE LEGEND WHO ILL NEVER FORGET

Jerry was very dear to me. He helped me through a very dark time of my life and was genuinely caring and helpful. My children and I will miss him. He was a kind and very sentimental man off the pitch and a marvel at his game. Rest in Peace and Love, Jerry. You will forever be remembered
