Louisiana Shooting Victims Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 24, 2015.
Jillian Johnson, 33, of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Mayci Breaux, 21, of Franklin, Louisiana, were killed Thursday in a shooting at a Lafayette movie theater.

The previews were ending Thursday evening for the screening of the comedy "Trainwreck" when a man stood up, pulled out a handgun and began firing indiscriminately, according to CNN.

The shooter, a 58-year-old white man, killed two people and wounded nine others at the Louisiana multiplex before he killed himself, police said.

Because the shooting occurred just days from the verdict in the Aurora theater massacre, and its saturation news coverage, there was some speculation whether the shooting was a copycat crime, CNN reported.

"There's nothing to believe that there was any kind of motive," said Col. Michael Edmonson of the Louisiana State Police.

"We want to talk to the (victims') families first and let them know what happened," Edmonson said. "We owe them that respect."

The shooting took place during the 7:10 p.m. (CDT) screening of "Trainwreck" at The Grand Theater 16 in Lafayette, a city of about 120,000 people, 60 miles west of Baton Rouge, according to CNN.

About 100 people were inside when the bullets flew. An alarm went off, followed by an overhead intercom message asking patrons to get out, according to CNN.

The latest U.S. shooting prompted one Twitter user to post this message:

USA fill the blanks news report. A ___ entered a ___ and opened fire with a _____. ___ people were killed. Pray for _______. #Lafayette — Cogito Ergo Atheos (@Cynicalreality) July 24, 2015

"It appears the shooter died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after discharging his weapon numerous times," said Lafayette Police Chief Jim Craft.
The shooting occurred six days after the conviction of James Holmes in the Aurora, Colorado, theater shooting that left 12 people dead and 70 people wounded.

On July 20, 2012, Holmes opened fire during a screening of "The Dark Knight Rises" using an AR-15 rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun and at least one .40 caliber handgun. Holmes was arrested outside the theater a short time later.

After Thursday's theater shooting, the star of "Trainwreck," the comedian Amy Schumer, tweeted, "My heart is broken and all my thoughts and prayers are with everyone in Louisiana."

May God Bless And Comfort You

By: Charles G. Turner, Sr.

At times like this when we don't know what to do

Just talk to God and he will see you through

When words sometimes just won't do and you don't know what to say

Just talk to God and let him have his way

When friends and family come and go

Just remember that God has an open door

At times like this when words alone won't do

May God bless and comfort you

Susan

Heartbreaking news to learn about this tragedy. Although no words can take the pain away, our Heavenly Father can grant you the inner peace you need to deal with your loss - for He becomes the stronghold to those who are in distress. Psalms 9:9.

July 25, 2015

This is truly unfortunate that two young woman having their whole lives ahead of them would be tragically killed in such a horrific event. May their families take comfort in knowing not only will they have the chance to see them again in the very near future, but to be with them forever in paradise conditions right here on earth.

Psalms 37:10,11

10 Just a little while longer, and the wicked will be no more;l
You will look at where they were,
And they will not be there.

11 But the meek will possess the earth, And they will find exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

July 25, 2015

Our heartfelt condolences to each of the Breaux and Johnson family.Coping with any loss is an on-going challenge and more so when unforeseen.

May each of you find continued comfort, peace of mind, and future hope in the words of Numbers 23:19 quote,"God is not a mere man who tells lies...When he says something, will he not do it? When he speaks, will he not carry it out?" - New World Translation Holy Scriptures. - We have the true God's (Psalms 83:18) guarantee that Earth will be free of today's problems, and those R.I.P. will be given an opportunity to enjoy living on Earth again, but in conditions free from fear, etc.

May the "Flame of Memories" of times spent Jillian & Mayci light up your days to look forward to Earth's future with Hope.
