We just learned of Alan's death. We are friends from the gym. For many years, we loved debating politics with Alan -- and reading his wonderful books. We are stunned. We will miss him very much.

Alan, I remember the good times growing up in Perth Amboy. Our mothers, z"l, were such good lifelong friends. I will miss your insightful NPR commentary. May your memory be a blessing to all those whose lives you touched.

To Sheldon and family,
I am so sad that you have lost your brother. The world has lost a very creative mind. Shelly, there are really no special words, but Someone wrote a note to me when my Dad died and it has stayed with me always. "Your loss is G-d's gain". Those words gave me peace.
