Dorian Murray Obituary
Dorian, who lived in Rhode Island, died Tuesday of stage 4 cancer, according to a post on his official Facebook page, "Praying for Dorian."
"It is with a very heavy heart that I share this news. Dorian J. Murray (#ýdstrong) has gained his beautiful angel wings tonight and is now pain free," reads the Facebook post. "He was surrounded by people who love him, and his transition to heaven was very peaceful. He was embraced by both mom and dad."
The post, on behalf of Chris and Melissa Murray, went on "to ask for privacy and respect at this time. The family has been through so much heartache and a devastating loss."
Dorian was diagnosed with cancer at age 4. The rare cancer, called alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, invades cells that normally would turn into skeletal muscles. A few months ago, when Dorian's doctors found cancer cells had spread to his spinal fluid, Chris and Melissa Murray made the decision to halt their son's chemotherapy and help make his China dreams come true.
After his parents created the hashtag #DStrong on social media, Dorian Murray's case spread quickly in China and beyond to all parts of the globe.
