Thank you for your books of life traveled. My life is better having read them and living at the same time you did through out the 60s, 70s and on through the turn of the century. You are missed. RIP

Some of us referred to you as our favorite one-eyed Irishman. That was for the combination of a protean intellect and extremely creative sense of humor. May the crow fly!

I read all his books, even wrote poetry in his style but of course I was never as good as him. I once went with a woman named Rhonda Harrison, related or not, I never knew.
I will miss him and would hope to run into him someday, up there.

Introduced to Jim Harrison's novellas in the early 70's by a most memorable man from Austin. For me, these two men have been connected ever since, and I have continued reading most everything Jim wrote, and will always be in love with Jim Harrison, his stories, poems and imagery. Jim showed us how to find the bear within, how to appreciate pets and the nature around us, and simply how to enjoy our own life with all its misery and joys. He is and should always be known as America's greatest author.

In the autumn of 1977 during my only semester in graduate school at Central Michigan University my roommate Lou Adams of Evart, Michigan gave me a copy of True magazine with the short novella "legends of the Fall" by a unknown Michigan writer. At that moment I fell in Love with Jim Harrison's writing and told everyone I knew he was one of the best since Hemingway. will the rest is history. Being from Michigan we were biased but we were also right and he inspired me to a lifetimes interest in writing- may Jim rest in peace at the Dunes Saloon in heaven! J. Bark III

My heart felt sympathy to Jim's family and friends, for his sudden departure. I was in the middle of reading the Beast that God forgot to invent by Jim., when I got a email from a good friend of mine that Jim had passed, it really impacted me. I once enticedtJim to do a signing at the best book store in the southwest, The Book Mark, with one of his favorite wines, which wasn't easy to find here in the old pueblo of Tucso, Az. Jim was a delight, and such a good sport, he wasn't feeling well that day, but that didn't stop him from appearing, a promise was a promise. What a grand dsy that was, several hundred of his fans showed up. He signed every single book and more for stock. Authors such Chuck Bowen, Doug Peacock and others were there. He had sent me a note which said "he would see me when he gets in town to kiss me and the books". I'll miss you Jim. I know you are up there with your compardes and your lovely wife enjoying yet, another of your favorite bottles of wine and all the grandeur of heaven. Say "hello" to Chuck for me. Thank you for being in my life for a short time, you will always be in my heart. Love Gloria

Jim Harrison...."Only a writer"......LIKE THERE IS ANYTHING BETTER TO BE OR DO. I will miss our imaginary walks and talks.. You will continue to be a beloved guest at ALL of my imaginary dinner parties.....dressed from hunting or fishing; reeking of three days of fish, wine and whiskey.....your time spent in the kitchen with me has been instructive. You add that great celebratory vibe necessary for any great meal. Thanks for the confidence you built in me as a chef, a writer, a contrarian.

May the God of all comfort give you his peace that surpasses all human understanding to endure this difficult time of the loss of your loved one. I would like to extend my deepest sympathies to Jim's family.
As an avid reader of his work I feel I know your father well, but yet we never met. A testament to who he was and what he did.
Whether I'm walking along a stream, enjoying a brisk wind off the lake, viewing nature's wonders or contemplating the absurdities of life I'll think of him.
He'll be with us forever. Now part of the nature he loved.
