Steve Julian Obituary
Julian died of complications of brain cancer, according to the radio station’s vice president of content, Melanie Sill. He was diagnosed with the cancer in November 2015.
Since 2000, the smooth-voiced host provided listeners in Southern California with the news, traffic, and weather.

The former police officer was born July 4, 1958, in Pomona, California. He began his career as a police dispatcher before becoming an officer in Baldwin Park, California. He also worked a five-year stint as a traffic reporter for a local firm.
He was the recipient of five Los Angeles Press Club awards, three Edward R. Murrow awards, and three Golden Mike awards.
Julian also acted in plays and directed at theaters around Southern California. He served on the boards of two theater companies, according to his radio station’s website.
A page to raise funds to help cover his medical and funeral expenses has been started at Giveforward.com.
In a post on Facebook, KCRW radio said, “Our hearts go out to our Los Angeles public radio family over at KPCC today.”
“No one cared about listeners more than Steve,” his best friend, Larry Mantle, told the Los Angeles Times.

Steve enjoyed the most varied and successful career choices. One could easily say that he lived a memorable and fulfilled life. For this, loved ones and valued friends can be eternally grateful. May your comfort lie in knowing that Steve is sleeping peacefully and will soon awaken to perfect mind and body in the promised promise. He will be missed!

Steve was indeed the quintessential radio voice and host for many years earning a reputation that will not soon be forgotten. For those and other reasons Steve will certainly be missed and mourned by many many people. For his shocked, grieving family and friends, please be comforted and reassured by these remarkable trustworthy words- : " Your dead will live. My corpses will rise up. Awake and shout joyfully you residents in the dust ! For your dew is as the dew of the morning. And the earth will let those powerless in death come to life."
