Sarai Torres said she'd known Martinez since last year. He'd just moved to Florida from Cuba, she said, and was still trying to master English.
"Every interaction I had with him was totally positive," she said.
Torres said she remembers Martinez as an outgoing person who introduced her to his other friends.
