To The Flores Family:

Mercedez Marisol Flores was a Spring Session 2-2016 student of mine at Valencia College's West Campus. She was enrolled in my Twentieth Century Humanities/HUM 2250 class. Mercedez was a very kind young woman. Even though she was quiet (in class), she was a very engaged student and was a very pro-active listener. Her fictional course name was Madonna. (Every student was invited to decide on a fictional course name related to the course.) Her project, which she created and displayed on a poster board at our Project Demo Event, along with her 1,500 word narrative, focused on the songs and music of Madonna. Her work was impressive! Recently, I sent a simple e-mail about the tragic loss of Mercedez to those students, who were also enrolled in this class. I am wishing the Flores Family the very best in the weeks ahead. Please know Mercedez will be remembered by all of us who had the pleasure of knowing her! Sincerely, Professor John Scolaro, Senior Teaching Fellow and Professor of Humanities at Valencia College's West Campus.
