Samantha Edwards Obituary
A cause of death was pending results from the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office, according to police.
Edwards was found dead Tuesday in her Minneapolis home. The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that police were summoned to her home at about 7:30 a.m. and found her body.
Edwards was named Miss North Dakota USA in 2003.
The Miss USA Pageant shared condolences in a post on Facebook: "We are saddened by the sudden loss of Samantha Edwards, Miss North Dakota USA 2003. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family and friends. She will forever be a part of this organization."

Edwards’ family and friends have created a GoFundMe page to help defray funeral expenses. As of Friday, the page had raised nearly $20,000 by more than 200 donors.
Edwards “was one of the most vibrant, crazy, compassionate, loyal balls of energy you could ever come across in life,” said Jessica Dereschuk, one of Edwards’ friends, on the GoFundMe page. “A conversation with her could either leave you full of adrenaline or utterly exhausted. She was a spitfire and with Sami you never knew what she'd throw your way - but you always knew she would be there for you. She was awesome like that."

even though I did not get to know Sam when we would sometimes talk on facebook her smile would come through when we would chat. Her smiles in all the pictures I have seen lights up the room. Laurie and family we are sorry for your loss. We will keep you in our prayers. Love you all.

I was sent on an honors scholarship to Minnesota in the early 90's. I found all the people to be so open-minded, so accepting, regardless of who you are, or claim to be. Often, the Universe takes home those who are the most beautiful for reasons I have yet to determine. I DO know that the Universe does not waste beauty or compassion. She has returned to the Sparkling Stream, where we will all return one day, but such beauty and compassion will return. My thoughts go to her family and many friends. They never leave you. I have learned this fact through experience. They are ALWAYS with you.
