Matilda Rapaport Obituary
Her sponsor Red Bull announced her passing on Monday.
Rapaport was skiing in a film shoot outside of the town of Farellones on Thursday after a major snowstorm when the avalanche occurred. She died later in a hospital from oxygen deprivation and brain damage.
“Matilda was an extraordinary athlete, traveling the world to find her passion, ride steep terrain and share her bright smile,” Red Bull said in a statement.

Her death happened nearly two years after the deaths of well-known extreme skiers Jean-Philippe Auclair, a Canadian, and Carl Andreas Fransson, a Swede. They also were caught in an avalanche in Chile.
Rapaport was one of the top female freeskiers at the time of her death and was ranked fourth in the world in the 2016 Swatch Freeride World Tour. She was the winner of the Xtreme Verbier event of the Freeride World Tour in 2013.
This past April, she married Swedish alpine World Cup racer Mattias Hargin.

By the age of 30, this intrepid woman had accomplished so much in her life. She was a courageous, fearless person, who never gave up in what she truly loved doing, and continued making a name for herself. My sincere condolences to the family, specially her husband, for the loss of her beloved Matilda. May our Heavenly Father extends to you of His comfort, and strengthen you to endure the difficult moments you are dealing with - for He is our Stronghold in times in need and distress.

Matilda was doing what she enjoyed. No it doesn't make it any easier for her loved ones. A sad time for them. Your life was richer by having her in it. Remember the good times. I did not know her, but appreciated the life she lived, by reading about her. May each of you find peace and comfort.
