Munich Shooting Victims Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 22, 2016.
At least eight people have been killed and many more wounded by a gunman at a shopping center in Munich, Germany, July 22, 2016, according to multiple news sources.

The suspect died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Police released a statement on Twitter that it appeared the gunman acted alone. Police said they haven’t found a motive, and the gunman had no ties to any terrorist organizations.

The shooting began at a McDonald’s restaurant at 5:50 p.m. local time. Gunfire was also reported at the Olympia shopping mall across the street.

Authorities shut down public transportation in the city while police conducted a search. Residents had been asked to remain inside until the situation was resolved.

“Our hearts go out to those who may have been injured,” said U.S. President Barack Obama, “Germany is one of our closest allies so we are going to pledge all the support that they may need in dealing with these circumstances.”

The shopping center is the largest in Munich, a city of 1.4 million, and located close to a transit hub. Munich is the capital of the southern German state of Bavaria.

What a tremendous loss - our hearts go out to you at this time. Sadly time and unexpected events befall us all. But why do bad things happen to good people? The answer is found at 1 John 5:19 where it says the whole world is lying in the power of the wicked one. God's kingdom government which we all pray for in the Lord's Prayer will make permanent solutions for mankind's problems. Daniel 2:44

How sad for the families and loved ones
This tragedy reminding us how fragile life is
Knowing this
may we take comfort in this
is that God is watching us from above
May it be in His light that we ascend
by our own volition
May comfort come to you all in this time of great sorrow

My condolences to the families and friends of those affected. Soon the words at Micah 4:4 will be fulfilled - "They will sit, each one under his vine and under his fig tree, And no one will make them afraid". How comforting to know that one day soon the earth will be free from those who cause fear.

We live in a terrible world. It seems every week another massacre takes place. My heart goes out to all those mourning and I hope with every fiber of my being that the injured recover quickly and the dead rest in peace. Emotions fuel these deplorable acts of violence, and right now hate and fear are taking over. I hope love and friendship find their way to all the people who certainly need some right now. My condolences to everyone affected by these recent tragedies, may you find peace soon.
