Texas Hot Air Balloon Accident Victims Obituary
The balloon caught fire while in the air near Lockhart, south of Austin. There were no survivors. An investigation of the accident is underway, with further information pending.
The incident is the largest loss of life in a hot air balloon accident in U.S. history, surpassing a 1993 crash that took six lives.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott offered his condolences to the families of the deceased: "Cecilia and I extend our deepest condolences for all those who have been affected by today's heartbreaking tragedy. Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families, as well as the Lockhart community. The investigation into the cause of this tragic accident will continue, and I ask all of Texas to join us in praying for those lost."
