Josh Samman Obituary
The death was announced by UFC in a news statement on its website.
“The UFC sends its sincerest condolences to the family and friends of Josh Samman,” the release said.
“A popular figure in the mixed martial arts world who was embraced by the community not just for his fighting ability but for his writing and accessibility to fans and his fellow media members, the Tallahassee native was always searching for the next adventure, whether in the Octagon or in life,” the UFC said.

Samman, who was born March 14, 1988, in Des Moines, Iowa, grew up in Tallahassee, Florida. He competed in UFC’s middleweight division. He made his professional mixed martial arts debut in 2007, recording nine wins and two losses over the next five years.
In January 2013, Samman joined the cast of “The Ultimate Fighter: Team Jones vs. Team Sonnen.” He competed through July 2016.
Samman, who wrote for UFC.com, also wrote “The Housekeeper: Love, Death, and Prizefighting.” The memoir chronicles his life struggles with substance abuse, injuries, and his relationship with Hailey Bevis, his longtime girlfriend. Bevis preceded Samman in death Aug. 30, 2013, in an auto accident.

Josh, I respected you as a UFC fighter, but more importantly as a very cerebral, intelligent person, after viewing several of your interviews. May the Almighty bless your soul and your fiance's soul in the gardens of heaven and may the Almighty provide comfort to the Samman family for their loss. God bless.

Please accept my deepest condolences. There is little that I personally can say or do to ease your pain and suffering. May knowing that you are in the thoughts and prayers of many bring a measure of comfort. Cheryl, your mother introduced me to you and Josh only 10 months ago at UFC Orlando, however we all knew "of" each other through Jane for many years prior.
